Just wondering when people started to show in their first pregnancy? I'm longing for a bump!

Ridiculously early. Around 7 weeks. I was really slim then though, pretty fit and had a washboard stomach. I was in maternity clothes at 12 weeks but then it slowed down and I didn't start growing again until around 19 weeks.

My colleague was pg at the same time and still wasn't showing at 32 weeks. She was v tall though. I'm v short so nowhere for my uterus to hide.

recklesspixie · 16/02/2011 18:01

I'm only 9 weeks and have had bump for two weeks now, like showofhands I was pretty fit and trim so maybe that's why....my tights and leggings hurt from 6 weeks....

DarciesmumandTTC2 · 16/02/2011 18:03

24wks with DD. bearing in mind I only found out at 21wks that I was pregnant :)

ShowOfHands · 16/02/2011 18:04

Oh I remember that recklesspixie. I had to start wearing things that didn't fasten around my middle as it was just so uncomfortable.

ShowOfHands · 16/02/2011 18:05

Gosh you found out at 21 weeks Darciesmum? At 21 weeks with dd I had a bump that moved visibly from the outside and could feel dd squirming around from 17 weeks.

DarciesmumandTTC2 · 16/02/2011 18:10

SOH didn't have regular cycles and although I had all the signs of sickness (not everyday mind you) and extreme tiredness in the first 12 weeks I put it down to my lifestyle at the time and the first time I felt my DD 'kick' the GP thought it was indigestion Grin

Yaya70 · 16/02/2011 18:15

I've just started wearing maternity jeans at 20 weeks (though they need a belt to hold them up as my bump is not that big). You can't really tell I'm pregnant unless you know -- I haven't told work officially yet. I'm tall though and had pretty strong stomach muscles beforehand.

Leilababyno1 · 16/02/2011 18:17

I am small, 5'4' and slim build. Was showing from around 10 weeks, and am still large for dates at 30 weeks now...had to buy maternity trousers from around 10 weeks too...think it really makes a difference whether you are short or tall though.

As another poster said, short person- less room for expanding uterus, makes sense really.

lilly13 · 16/02/2011 18:19

around 20 weeks

ShowOfHands · 16/02/2011 18:21

I think height's a big factor. Because I had and have strong stomach muscles but am really quite short and have a particularly short body. There's nowhere for the uterus to stretch to other than out.

suwoo · 16/02/2011 18:22

Just after my 20 week scan with DD and I was slim too. With the next two, after about 5 minutes.

jenga079 · 16/02/2011 18:26

Today!! I'm 17 weeks and thought I wasn't showing at all, but I wore trackie bottoms and a T-Shirt to work today (instead of usual office wear) and suddenly everyone noticed! I've got to admit I was delighted!

lindsell · 16/02/2011 18:27

I'm quite short (5' 3") and size 8, I didn't show in clothes til about 20wks and didn't get a proper bump
til about 26wks, didn't wear maternity clothes til about 30wks. It seems to vary so much!

lolajane2009 · 16/02/2011 18:33

I'm showing a bit at ten weeks.

MandaHugNKiss · 16/02/2011 18:39

I think at about 24 weeks I had a small very neat bump - it didn't even necessarily scream Pregnant! As per the previous theories, I'm fairly tall (and midwives have always commented on my good stomach muscles through each prenancy).

DarciesmumandTTC2 · 16/02/2011 18:41

I'm 5'6, washboard tummy and size 6/8 in clothes. Was all baby my bump and although took a couple of weeks, I went straight back to the above Grin hope the same this time around although don't really want to get as big as I did last time round. went from an 8 in the top to a size 20 Shock very uncomfortable.

vintageteacups · 16/02/2011 18:43

Around 16 weeks I think. That was the time when people weren't confused as to whether I was just blaoted Grin.

Second time though probably much earlier 10-12 weeks.

BraveGirl · 16/02/2011 18:46

About 24 weeks for me - size 12 average build!

JBrd · 16/02/2011 18:50

Around 16 weeks it became obvious I wasn't just putting on lots of weight Grin

Tezbean · 16/02/2011 18:53

Oh dear it looks like I've got ages then. I'm 5'8 and size 12 and only 13 weeks. Will just have to settle for looking bloated Blush

Enjoy staying in normal clothes while you can - but start shopping for maternity jeans now Grin - next and topshop both do extra long ones....

Oh and mothercare and dotty p's for tights (Next ones roll down the bump and are useless) (I'm 5' 8" too). Mothercare PJ trousers are nice and long too.

Misty9 · 16/02/2011 21:27

I'm 5'10" and size 12-14 (depending on shop!) and I'm already starting to show a bit at 11 weeks. Some of it is bloat, but some is hard and lower down so the start of bump? Either way I'm struggling to fit into trousers now!

bishbarneybee · 16/02/2011 21:56

I'm 11 weeks, and a size 12 - 14 and 5'5, my flat stomach is v slightly rounded and unfortunately the button on my work trousers pinged across the room cartoon style on Monday Blush Guess I wont be wearing them again for a long time.

I'm making the most of all my lovely clothes, wearing something different every day and dreading maternity clothes shopping, they all look so boring.

Deciduousblonde · 16/02/2011 22:00

Ditto suwu!

CitizenOscar · 16/02/2011 23:13

Depends what you mean by "show". I'm 22 weeks and unless I tell people they generally can't tell. But to me I feel HUGE! And I grew out of trousers/skirts/bras by about 15 weeks. It does depend which clothes I wear -I'm a bit tired of having to tell people so sometimes I wear clothes that show it off on purpose! People are less observant than I thought (I was paranoid about people guessing at 4-6 weeks but really needn't have worried!)
