Hi all

Has anyone had symptoms of pre-eclampsia and its all blown over??

My bp is normally great (around 114/60) but do have several other pregnancy health issues (prev DVT & Embolism so on Clexane plus vascular condition which is too complicated to explain Grin).

Routine dipstick at 24 weeks showed a diddy bit of protein (enough for nurse to send it off, results came back clear).

Last few days I've had the most stinking headache on and off. Had odd little 'sparkly' dots in my vision which move really fast (sorry know that sounds stooopid but cant think how else to describe it Confused). Also had intermittent pain in the top of my bump which has been enough to get right on my nerves. Feels like cramp...v sore. Anyhow, feel a little strange today so DH insisted on bringing home a BP machine from town (bless him!) and it measures around 138/80 (3 times).

Silly question I know, but I'm only 28 weeks and have never had BP issues or anything with 3 DDs. Should I be worried? I mean BP isnt THAT high so I'm inclined to wait it out?!

I will say I have been under a phenomenal amount of stress lately. So many issues at the moment so I literally dont know my arse from my elbow. Hoping its nothing but unsure whether I ought to be concerned!! My mum & sister both had PE but I escaped it. Have booked a nurse appt for a wee check but feel a bit of a wally as it may be nothing?!

Any advice? XX

Hi all sat in hosp on the monitor just waiting for the nod to go home. Bloods done, bp not too bad & baby active. Fingers crossed all is well & dr will pop in with the all clear soon so I can take DH & DDs to get some tea, they're patiently waiting outside for me Wink.

Fingers crossed clouiseg I am glad you're getting serious attention at last!

lyra41 · 17/02/2011 20:08

that's good news. but much better safe than sorry and I'm sure the doc and mw will keep a closer eye on you now. x

Hello all.

Home now! Bloods were fine and bp dropped to a healthy reading. The trace was great too. The only thing that was picked up was an increase in protein from trace to +1.

I have NO idea what that means but they want me monitored, have an appt with the midwife tomorrow to have urine & bp done again. They don't seem too concerned about the headache/vision as my bp was fine there. So suppose it's watch & wait to see if anything develops.

Glad you could get home and that they are monitoring you. Hope you not too worried

Best of luck!

clouiseg · 17/02/2011 21:26

Thank you! Think I'm too tired to be worried but lo is great so happy now! Will ask my mw tomorrow what the protein thing means and if it's significant. Thank goodness for everyone who is good enough to reply on here. Will keep my eyes peeled from now on! X

Well done for persevering. Good also that you will be monitored. The main thing with PE is for it to be picked up and the mum and baby monitored, so you are likely now in safe hands whether it develops in PE or not. A relief! Good luck.

FannyFifer · 19/02/2011 07:52

How you doIng now?

clouiseg · 19/02/2011 15:26

Am ok, headache has subsided slightly but was enough to wake me last night. MW has decided to monitor me more regularly and if protein persists I have to do a 24 hour urine thing?? BP was ok, seems to shoot up and down like a yoyo so not sure whether thats a good thing as I'd have thought PE would keep it high iyswim? I'm prob wrong Blush I did ask about the headache and she asked if it might be stress!!??

Anyway, if anything develops I'll update but am crossing everything for a bit of a reprieve from all the worry!

I am so glad you are ok clouiseg. I've been reading these posts.

I've had a headache on and off now since Wednesday and have spoken to a Midwife face to face and also phoned the hospital this morning. Was told just to take a paracetamol, drink lots and rest up. The Midwife at the hospital was also very critical of me and "demanded" to know why it had taken a few days for me to call, as it obviously wasn't important. I felt dreadful and it felt like I was wasting her time, it's put me off calling back. (Probably adding to the stress and making this evenings headache worse!!)

Because my headache keeps coming and going and does fade with a paracetamol and I don't have any more symptoms, they don't want to see me (I am 37 weeks).

Maybe they are right, but it's really difficult to know what to do and if you're doing the right thing. I'm going to bed now in the hope that it now goes away!! But I expect it'll just be there again in the morning.

clouiseg · 19/02/2011 20:48

Oh no Nat really Angry for you!!

At the end of the day you ring for advice and they should show some compassion! Its a good thing that the paracetamol is shifting it to give you a rest (it did nothing for mine but was told to use Codeine...NOT a chance!). When are you due to see the MW next?

It may be worth having your urine checked if you are worried? I hadnt really taken it seriously until the ladies on here were good enough to make me realise how serious it can be. Is there any way you can have your bp checked just to rule it out? I for one will not be taking any chances. Having done some further research into it I realised that at times its your own instinct that can raise the alarm. good luck. X
