First time poster. No children.
Married 5 months.
This is my 3rd month of trying since i came off the pill. Just took a test in work loos (couldn't wait) and it's positive.
I had to share with someone!!
My emotions are a cross between excitment and pure fear :)

Yay! Congratulations!

I took my test in the loos in M&S on Oxford Street - I know it is just wrong but couldn't wait either. Now 23 weeks.

:)

Alioco · 15/02/2011 14:29

Thanks! And congrats to you too :)

What do I do now? After telling my husband tonight that is?!
Should I make an appointment to see my doctor straight away?

Ps - I am still about 90% terror and 10% excitement!xx

greenzebra · 15/02/2011 14:33

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

I went to see my doctor and told them but I dont think you have to, you could just ask the receptionist at the doctors to put you on the midwife list and then she will ring you around the 8 week mark to arrange your first meeting around the 10 week mark.

lolajane2009 · 15/02/2011 14:35

Congrats

tummytickler · 15/02/2011 14:40

Hi
Congratulations! I got my BFP today too (also done in the loos in town because I could not wait until I got home!)
I would ring your surgery and ask what the procedure is. Some places the GP likes to see you, and in others you can just book a Booking Visit with the midwife. It is about 40 minutes and largely about paperwork, giving you info, blood tests.
Have you worked out your due date yet? I think I am about 26th October and this is our 5th (and last!) child.

Alioco · 15/02/2011 14:47

Thanks all :)
I'm going to work out my due date.
This feels very, very weird right now...
Confused

Congratulations, my test was done in Morrisons toilets just couldnt wait to get home and Im 19+5 goes so quickly once you find out Smile

OmicronPersei8 · 15/02/2011 15:02

Congratulations. Smile

I remember doing a test in a bookshop in Birmingham (in DH's lunch break, he was waiting outside Grin ), I think it took me the whole nine months to get used to the idea.

Depending on where you live your GP may want to ask you which hospital you'd like to be booked in at - I know where I am in London you had to get your choice in quite quickly. In a different area it may not be an issue at all.

SavannahRose · 15/02/2011 15:11

Hey, Congrats!!
I randomly bought the clear blue test when they were buy one get one free and ended up taking one whilst the hubby was working away, bad move but i couldnt wait. It didnt show straight away so went to bed woke up and saw it was positive! So, had to do the free one and that came up straight away!! I'm now 23 weeks! Cant wait to have the baby, very nervous even though this is number 2! it doesnt get easier who ever says it does! every pregnancy is different!

You should ring the GP and get booked in to see the mid wife she may book you a confirmation scan i had one as i was unsure of my dates! Plus i got to see 'muffin' my baby's heart beat for the first time it was amazing! I was 6+3 when i had my first scan.

:) congrats again...... xx

SavannahRose · 15/02/2011 15:13

Have you told your other half??? xx

LDNlady · 15/02/2011 16:05

:) Congratulations!

I did mine at work in October and was the same. Excited but utterly terrified at the same time. Will be 24 weeks tomorrow. Have you told your other half yet? x

davidtennantsmistress · 15/02/2011 19:51

congratulations, I also did mine in the work loo 3 days before xmas - was so surprised after walking back to the office and checking it to find it was positive (thank god everyone else was out!) :o

Our doctor likes you to book in with them then the midwife about 8 weeks.

eagerbeagle · 15/02/2011 19:59

Congratulations! I got my BFP last week and am still in shock.

It is terribly exciting though.

Alioco · 16/02/2011 14:52

Told other half last night.
He was out with friends after work, wasn't drunk but was after a few Wink
Had to wait till 12 when he got in, was clock watching all evening.

When he got in, asked how his evening was, then said I i had something to show him, but that i didn't want him to speak for a while, just take in what I wanted to show him. With that I thrust the positive First Response stick in front of his face. Very subtle :)

He was overwhelmed, tears in his eyes. It was a lovely moment, said he'd never been happier.

I'm just hoping it all goes ok, especially in the first 3 months.
I have no idea about which hospital to have the baby in London?? Suppose we'd better do some research!

Bumpwanted · 21/02/2011 11:51

Congratulations! I just got my first BFP on Sat too! Due around 2 November. I am scared excited!!!

I also have no clue what to do. We were really lucky and I got pregnant very quickly so I haven't really looked into anything or planned anything...I feel like i know nothing!

I have a doctor's appointment this week (no idea why but I heard that was what I was supposed to do!) and I know that as I am in London I need to choose a hospital pretty quick. I am taking a foliac acid multivitamin tablet which looked quite good in Boots and avoiding soft sheese, parma ham, unpasturised stuff and have cancelled a reservation at the Fat Duck (a tiny bit gutting).

Apart from that is there anything else I should be doing?!!

xx

Oneof4 · 21/02/2011 12:46

Take folic acid.
Rest as much as possible.
Try not to stress over every twinge before your first scan!

Congratulations. :)
