i'm 24 weeks - it's prob a daft question but i had an appt with my midwife and she was pushing quite hard on my tummy (I guess to find location of baby) - i didnt like it and tensed up a bit, this wont harm baby will it? i know midwives know what they're doing but i just wasn't expecting it. kept thinking placenta will burst!!

No, the midwife will do this for every appointment you have, your placenta will not 'burst', as your bump gets bigger it may get more uncomfortable, but if it's painful then tell the midwife.

Mine pressed down but only about as hard as a scan, and she quickly found the baby. Maybe your baby was hiding?

They are measuring the length iv your uterus. She will do this at every appointment. They can tell that the baby is growing well and is the right size by measuring this.

I always found it was a little more sensitive to have these examinations on a full bladder!

The wall of your womb is thick muscle if you imagine pressing down on a plastic bag filled full with water and a goldfish....surrounded by thick foam. It'd be quite hard to squish the fish!!!
