1st Antenatal went poo!!!!!

Hi Everyone,
Im 36 and expecting our fourth child, Ive had 3 previous sections and was really hoping for a VBAC with this one, when I went for my first antenatal appointment yesterday I raised it with my midwife who looked AMAZED id even think it!! She said I was very high risk, im at risk of diabetes because of my age???? Blood clots in my legs because this is my fourth??? (has prescribed stokings!!??!!GROSE) im 11st and 5ft 4, but apparantely this is over there guidelines for BMI! I wont see my consultant now until im 26 weeks, I have looked into hiring a Doula but dont know what to think now?? Feel rather gutted, thought I was healthy and ok.
Anyone in a similar situation please get in touch- going round the bend!!

sorry can't help in that i haven't been in your situation but i know at our local hospital (Guildford) there is a consultant that runs a VBAC clinic to promote just that - might be worth seeing if your hospital has a simliar thing and see if you can talk to a midwife who works on there?

Really hate to put a massive dampner on it but do please please consider carefully. Riven's daughter was her 4th VBAC after 3 sections and was so badly oxygen starved during delivery that she is severely disabled and needs round the clock care. I know that is one very unfortunate case and obviously not what happens to every baby born after so many sections but giving birth vaginally is very hard (I have only done it once- and my daughter was born with same condition as Rivens daughter but grade 1 (much milder) so my daughter eventually was given a normal prognosis) and tbh I will be having sections from now on! Pushing a baby out with muscles you have never really used before is something you really need to think very carefully about whether you will be able to do it safely for both you and baby. Do listen to what your doctors advise and if they think its okay for you to VBAC then go for it but do be aware of all the risks involved.
Sorry if my post is so negative- I just worry about such things.

it is ultimately your decision, you have to weigh up the pros and cons and be prepared to fight your corner.

a VBA3C is unusual, there are few of them happening, but iirc you're first section was emergency the other elective due to the first section? so not neccearily a recurring issue

get second , 3rd * 4th opinions from everyone.. see the consultant midwife , see the supervisor of midwives

it seems like you're MW is going very much towards stressing risks.. which are risks, not guaranteed to happen.. and you need something to counterbalance it

some risks do increase with age, you need info to make informed decisions, you cannot be forced to have a section

what about contacting a few indpendent midwives to ask their opinions?

Can you book in to see your consultant sooner? Surely you don't have to wait till 26 weeks. Not heard of the risk of blood clots going up with number of babies before, have had 5ds. I too would be wary about vbac (speaking as the unlucky one whose scar ruptured) and would want to see what the consultant said now so I'd have a lot more time to consider options fully, iirc rivens was a homebirth as well as vba3c.

I just wanted to sympathise :) 'mental hug', cannot give you any practical advice. I had my last baby at 29 years old and was treated like an ancient THEN. I'm now 43 and 6 weeks pregnant, God Help Me going by what your midwife says! I havnt seen a mw yet - but i realy hope when i do she isn't as negative as yours. I'll be floored ...

All I can say, happymummy, is that you dont HAVE to stick with the mw you've got....

I'm a year behind you in age , also expecting my 4th & have been classified as low risk so that does seem odd OP.
