Anyone using games for fitness or wii fit during pregnancy?

I can only find posts of people talking about buying one for fitness with responses telling them to buy trainers and go out doors instead..... am wondering if anyone uses one during pregnancy as part of their exercise routine?

I have a wii fit board and also the other games and wondering if people found them ok to use during pregnancy?

I am (touch wood) starting to feel a little more human at 18weeks so am trying to get back into excercise for my bum and thighs sake let alone baby!! I have eased myself back in to it and walk the dog for at least an hour every day so this will be in addition to walking. I dontwant to spend more money joining a gym or swimming, although I may swim later on in pregnancy but just thinking of saving pennies right now.

Anyone one else using their wii for it during pregnancy? Or indeed the ps3 or xbox?

Hi there, I definitely will be, I'm a real gamer! None of the wii fit/fit plus games are particularly strenuous (although go steady with the muscle ones, I think?). I have a fit board game called 'step to the beat' which is fun and not strenuous either.

I am also using my PS2 dance mat every day too - I generally play it really hardcore (think Japanese teenagers in arcades!) and have a proper arcade mat. I am not expecting to quit it for a while but I'll probably tone it down a bit.

I really hate outdoor exercise but I'll be swimming twice a day when the weather improves and the pool is open, so if I don't use my wii and ps2 I will probably just turn into a blob.

Good luck to you and let me know of any games you recommend! xx

I used to have one of those mats but sold it.

I got bought the fitness coach, box fit and a mixed games one. All been sat in the wrapper since Xmas as had no intention of dragging my sick body to do it!

Am whipping them out today so i'll let u know how I get on!

Love doing them as fun and I suddenly feel really self conscious so gym and public are not ideal!!!

Just do it if you want to. As long as you don't overdo it and are just getting a bit of exercise then there's no issues - light exercise in pregnancy is good for you regardless of if its indoors or outdoors. You might find some of the wii fit balance games more tricky though especially as you get bigger.

The only issue I've had with using my wii fit was when it decided to tell me I'd lost weight over the 4 months I'd been pregnant and I ended up having to explain to my MW how I'd managed to "accidently" weigh myself and then get myself all worried because of it.

I would be, if I didn't have a joint problem which means I have to stick to yoga. I lost a lot of weight before getting pregnant. I started exercising using the wii fit plus, then got my fitness coach cardio workout (the boxercise one), then was fit enough to move onto an elliptical trainer. I would have gone back to the boxercise one during pregnancy, but the back and forth motion with the hips would not be good for me at the minute! I'd be careful if you have any signs of SPD too.

The step and marching on the Wii Fit plus would be great for light cardio. I am jealous of you having all that fun with it, I am sticking to my yoga dvd now!
