Melasma during pregnancy??

I'm in the last week of pregnancy but before and throughout it, I have experienced Melasma on the skin of my face.

Melasma is an increase in the pigmentation of the skin. Many women experience it, and while it also can occur in women who take birth control pills, it is more common in pregnancy.

I don't have dark skin but I noticed that before getting pregnant, I had like sort of freckles in my skin. When I got pregnant the doctors said melasma would increase - nothing serious, but I don't like it.

So I wanted to know if any of you had it and how it was treated.

When I went on holidays to the caribbean, not being pregnant yet, I found out that the sun would make the patches appear. So instead of having a nice tanned skin I had a blotchy skin.

So if anyone knows about this and can recommend a cream, that would be great.

thanks!

I had it on my neck when on the pill - it faded within a couple of months of stopping taking it.
Oddly enough i only had it with DC1 (now 32wks with DC3)
I wouldn't worry - it'll fade again after you have the baby.
