Hello, not much advice to dispense, other to say that I am 22 weeks and have been having a varierty of aches and pains, which I am putting down to general expansion, also I seem to find that baby's movement seems to vary hugely from day to day, which I checked with the MW and is apparently quite normal at this stage - if I were you and you are worried, I would call the MW and ask. Hope you are feeling better today x

hi thanks for getting back, i spoke to my mw on phone thismorninhg but she wasnt a great deal of help just said if i was worried to give my local hosp a ring, i may give them a call and just mention it to them and see wat they say, been having some niggly feeling low down that feel slighy uncomftable and my tummy somtimes gets tight as theo hes having a strech although im unsure if thats what it is :0(

It is normal- it's often just due to the hormone relaxin, which is released in much larger quantities during pregnancy. Due to your rapidly expanding uterus, all your other organs have to re-shift- putting pressure on your ribs, back etc...

In short- everthing has to stretch, causing aches and pains. I wouldn't worry too much. Obviously, if you're feeling anxious about it just give your midwife a call and I'm sure she will reassure you.

Hi,
Sorry, just saw your recent post. That's a shame that your midwife was a bit rubbish.

But I do think what you're describing to be experiencing is a normal symtom of pregnancy at your gestation. The tightening sounds like Braxton Hicks contractions, which are also very normal at your stage- just your uterus practising and preparing for labour.

Give your hospital a call, I'm sure they will reassure you that all is ok.

Hi, i reached 20 weeks today and was flicking through a pregnancy book to have a look at how big the baby was as i have NO bump whatsoever. Apparently (according to this particluar book) at 20 weeks baby is 16.4cm and when i flicked to 23 weeks it said the baby will 29cm!!! Thats means its growing nearly double the size in 3 weeks so no wonder you are having some discomfort. My gosh Shock!!!!!

I had all these aches and pains around 21-24 weeks and my bump grew massively in that time! I'm now 27+4 and get it occasionally but nowhere near as much as in those weeks. Always best to check if you're worried though x
