I am off to Cuba in a week and need to get some bug spray which is baby-in-waiting-friendly. I know Deet is obviously out, but what about citronella? I think I read somewhere there is a pregnancy safe bug spray (for the body or the room) but I can't remember what it's called or where to get it from. Any suggestions gratefully received. I am 13wks btw.

Actually, What to Expect When You're Expecting recomends using a DEET spray. Personally hate using it even when not pg and only do so in really high risk areas. Be interested to know others views and alternatives as may also be visiting sub-tropics soon.

I went to the maldives when pregnant and used a natural product called Mozzie guard (you can get it in a cream or a pump spray -the spray lasts much longer). I never got a bite and my DH picked up a couple with a jungle formula DEET based spray. Four years on it is the only repellent we use and also use the cream on DD and we still have not had a problem on various holidays.

Best place to get it from is amazon.
