Hi, I discovered I was pregnant last friday, and then was ill for 5 days, just emerging now to the realisation! Havent seen a doc or anything but have done two tests, one digital. I'm hoping everything is OK, I feel normal - tired, but I've got a 14month old, so thats to be expected!

Congrats Demonchild. Will you be on any meds for Graves while you are pregnant? I hope it all goes smoothly for you. I think I will wait a little while.

Liabella · 13/02/2011 07:05

Oh I see. I feel like there's so much I just don't know about pregnancy! In that case, I'm just over 4 weeks. Oh my goodness-2 weeks closer to The Scan!

I'm going to tell my mum today - I need to tell someone and I'd turn to her immediately if anything happened.

I'll waut for the scan I think, before telling others.

How about you?

Blakey1 · 13/02/2011 09:23

good morning ladies, congrats to Demonchild too, I hope all goes well for you. My 14 month is sitting on my knee as I write tis trying to swipe the keys, so apologies if there are stray letters or words here!
I am going to wait till the scan to tell friends, but will tell parents soon i think. I am also going to start napping when DD naps, to get a sleep bank together!

Nettlerash - PTU, which doesn't work as well as carbimazole, but it doesn't cross the placenta so it's safer atm.

Congratulations to everyone else! I tested again this morning, still pregnant! The line was really faint again, but a line's a line right?

So now I've got 9 months to get DD to start sleeping properly - any suggestions? Grin

Blakey1 · 13/02/2011 10:39

Oh gosh, I ended up reading every book ever published on Sleep, and then ignored them all, but a little bit of everything I read sort of seeped into my brain and we made our own sleep plan, which we stuck to religiously until it became habit. Repetition of a routine was the only thing that worked for us.

Hi can I join? I found out 2 weeks ago, am 7 weeks so due very beginning of Oct I think. I have 1 DD already who will be 4 very soon. We were trying for about 3 months and no mw appt yet. I'm feeling okay not sick just a bit tired and finding it hard to get going in the mornings!

mumtobee · 13/02/2011 11:04

Blakey 1 - your situation is exactly the same as mine. I found out on Thursday, have done 3 tests, the digital one said 1-2 weeks so I'm 4 weeks pregnant too!! My DD will be 22 months when this baby is born....was only trying for 2 weeks (it took 9 months last time!). So excited, we've told no-one yet!!

mumtobee · 13/02/2011 11:06

Oops - I can't add up - baby brain kicking in already!! Not 22 months, it'll be 34 for DD in October!!

Liabella · 13/02/2011 11:26

Congratulations to Whatevertheweather.

i've just been on the phone to my mum. I managed to say it through my nerves and felt emotional, but feels so good to have said it out loud! She is really excited and said all the right things (she always knows what to say to make me feel good - I really hope I'll be like that for my child).

We're not going to tell anyone else until the scan but I'm glad my mum knows in case I need her.

KatieWatie · 13/02/2011 11:30

Hi All I am new here and this is my first post, and will be my first child. I did a non-digital test on Thursday which to my absolute amazement was positive, then I did the Clearblue Digital on Friday which said +3 weeks!! Shock.

I feel so overwhelmed at the moment I don't know what to do. I don't understand any of the acronyms here and I feel like I've been left behind. I think I'm due around 09/10/11, I will be 34 by then which I feel is quite old for a first. I don't have many local female friends that I can talk to, and I'm not telling anyone yet anyway. I have loads of questions which is why I have joined up here.

I have a doc's appt booked for tomorrow, I haven't been to see a doctor for 10 years. I'm terrified about it all...

Liabella · 13/02/2011 11:53

KatieWatie - that's exactly how I'm feeling! I was in such shock when the test was positive - it was like being on a gameshow when it suddenly lit up with 'pregnant'. I didn't think it would be positive at all. I also don't have any pregnant friends.

I'm a teacher so going to go to the doctor in half term - week after this one and then it'll all start sinking in properly I think.

My mum told me to enjoy it, be positive and calm because - she says - calm mummies make calm babies!

But I am also terrified and overwhelmed and can't think about anything else!

becks130 · 13/02/2011 11:59

Hi all,

I got a positive test this morning, I am still in shock Shock I have a 12 month old DD and a DS who will be 5 in April. I got a 9 week old pupy yesterday for my DC but that was before I knew I was expecting no3.

I really didn't expect to be pregnant as it took 18 months to conceive with DD and this time I wasn't even trying!!

DH is out all day and I had to tell him over the phone this morning and there was a very long silence so I expect his boys day out isn't as fun today!

Is there anyone else with young child and pregnant again? I am really stressing about it Hmm

KatieWatie · 13/02/2011 12:04

Liabella - I know exactly what you mean about the gameshow! I thought the first test I did was joking (the line was strong but a bit skewiff), but I can't argue with the digital one. We've only been 'trying' for 6 weeks, I had no idea this would happen so fast. Because it's been such a whirlwind and I thought it would take months, I haven't even logged any dates or done any of the things you're meant to do when you're trying!

I don't even want to tell my mum because I had a miscarriage at 12 weeks late last year (wasn't trying to conceive, and didn't know I was pregnant), and I don't want to get my parents all excited for nothing.

I'm sure that once we get involved in ante-natal groups or whatever it is that goes on, we'll have loads of pregnant friends so I'm trying not to worry too much Smile

I get palpitations just thinking about talking to a doctor, never mind anything else, but I think your mum is right so I'll try to calm down...

Good luck with everything xx

Mondayschild78 · 13/02/2011 14:13

Hi all,

I tested positive yesterday and it's taking a while to sink in. I am 32 and it will be my first and I only have one friend who has a child but I don't see her that often.

I've felt a bit clueless about it all too but have been researching furiously for the past few weeks and think some of the info is starting to make sense finally.

Not sure whether to be excited or not yet though and DH is the same, seems like it's a long journey ahead so I guess once you hit the 12 week mark it feels more real and maybe a bit safer?

Worried I will put on weight in the first trimester and people at work will notice, I'm fairly curvy as it is

Gosh so much to think about lol!

Nettlerash · 13/02/2011 19:44

Becks I have a 16 month old she will be 2 when this one arrives.

Congrats to everyone else who has just found out.

Monday, With my last pregancy I looked quite pregnant by about 10-12 weeks. Although I wasnt fat then (I am now!) I was about a size 12. Everyone is different though and this time I know I will show earlier.

mumtobee · 13/02/2011 20:00

Monday - I feel like I show already (only 4 weeks) - it's my second though, so I think it shows quicker! Just say you over indulged at Christmas and you want to get the weight down again and no-one will guess, that's what I'm planning on doing - oh and wearing very baggy clothes!

Nettlerash · 13/02/2011 20:04

Mumttobee so glad its not just me that thinks that!! I swear I looked pregnant yesterday!

Blakey1 · 13/02/2011 20:14

KatieWatie, I had my first 14 months ago, I was 34, and had it been any sooner I dont think I would have been mature enough to cope! I think 34 is a great age to have a baby, you are wise enough to have a bit of life experience behind you, but young enough to enjoy things fully. Its obviously daunting, but such a huge and brilliant adventure. enjoy it if you can. Dont worry about not knowing anyone yet, you will! Theres a secret mums club everyone joins when the baby arrives, its like a cult! You'll never be alone!

Mondayschild78 · 14/02/2011 19:22

Thanks for the reassurance re looking preggers, I'm glad it's not just me! I think my whole team are just awaiting that moment when I announce it as I got married and am 32 and am the only one at that sort of 'stage' - probably making me more paranoid!!

Feeling soooooo tired at work at the mo, struggling and ready for bed by 5pm. Yoga tonight, I'm sure I will actually fall asleep in the class Grin

jkklpu · 14/02/2011 20:32

Congratulations everyone.
I have a strong suspicion that I am too - already have 2 x ds and just feel weird, not hungry and wiped out. But have a symptom I never had the other times - sorry if tmi - intermittent diarrhoea. Anyone else had this???

Whatevertheweather · 14/02/2011 23:06

Evening ladies - glad its not just me having suspicions about 'looking' pregnant already. Didn't show until about 16-18 weeks with dd but already feel a bit like I've 'popped' out a bit. Not good as not telling work until after scan.

Also feeling very lightheaded/dizzy - anyone else had this?

Just want the next 4/5 weeks to be over so we can have the scan and tell everyone! Have so far only told my parents and my sister. Haven't even told dp's parents as his nans been poorly so they've had a lot on their plate. They will be thrilled though.

Off to euro Disney in 2 wks for dd's 4th birthday so that will help the time go quicker I'm sure - no big rollercoasters for me though!!

Hope everyone is keeping well Grin

mumtobee · 15/02/2011 08:31

I'm worried about hiding it this time - I was so sick during my last pregnancy but had just moved to a new area so didn't know anyone and didn't have a job at that point, so I could just spend my time in bed if I needed to. Even at my toddler group yesterday I felt lightheaded by 12 as I hadn't eaten anything, and I'm sure people are wondering why I'm not drinking alcohol. Maybe, I should stop worrying about people guessing and just hope they don't ask!! Still haven't told anyone....

DemonChild · 15/02/2011 09:55

The thing is, I'm sure my symptoms have started earlier with this pregnancy. I didn't even know I was pregnant til 5-6 weeks with DD, but with this one I'm already nauseous and shaky and I'm only 4 weeks.

Told my mum and my dad's back today so I'll tell him later. I was a bit worried about telling so many people, but having miscarried before, I actually found I was really glad of their support. Hopefully won't be an issue this time though.

Blakey1 · 15/02/2011 19:33

Hello All

I'm feeling a bit strange, because really I dont have any symptoms. I'm busy all day running around with and after my DD1, 14 months, so a lot of the time I even forget I'm pregnant, but really no symptoms. I am a bit worried because when I was ill I had a really high fever. I wish I knew everything was OK. Hmm

Blakey1 · 15/02/2011 19:33

Unless only wanting to eat pizza is a symptom?
