When did you start bursting out of clothes?

I'm only 6 weeks tomorrow but my clothes are already feeling a bit tight around the waist. It is my second dc but this seems a bit early! When did you start to expand and need to get new clothes.

lol i cant get my size 10 tight tops on now, i'm 9wks, but my sizze 10 jeans are fine. my waist line seems to have disappeared a bit.

Flisspaps · 08/02/2011 18:49

I started bursting out of clothes probably sometime around 2006, however didn't conceive DD until May 2009 Wink

Somewhere around 13 weeks, but that was first pregnancy.

DurhamDurham · 08/02/2011 18:49

I wore normal clothes (baggier ones or dresses) until I was about 6 mnths, then I bought some new leggings and a maternity dress. That was about it I think. I didn't get a huge bump until I was about 7 months, it seemed to grow overnight. Both pregnancies were the same. Big babies too (8.10 and 8.15). Everyone is different.

knittymum · 08/02/2011 18:50

With DS2 I found out on the day after AF was due, 31st august, and had to buy bigger trousers before a family wedding on 13th September!

coldtits · 08/02/2011 18:51

It happened really suddenly with my first child. I took my work trousers off on saturday night, went to put them on on Sunday morning and they didn't fit!

Darlingdamsel · 08/02/2011 19:18

I am so happy someone asked this question.

I will be 17 weeks tomorrow and have already grown out of 2 bra sizes and now can't close my most recent purchase and I am have NO more trousers that remotely fit me.

I felt so depressed by it last night.

There is 23 weeks more to go and I am already HUGE (today someone even asked how much longer I have to go). Strange really since I have only gained 8 pounds?

I don't understand this. The women in my family don't generally show until late and I am really not over eating. What is all this excess swell and I really do wonder how much worse it will get.

Does that help? Smile.

business suits started to feel tight at around 16-18 weeks... jeans at around 20 weeks... i did not gain any weight during the 1st trimester

daimbardiva · 08/02/2011 19:55

I haven't gained any weight yet, but definitely feel certain pairs of jeans uncomfortably tight. I'm only 6 weeks! Midwife tells me it is bloating. I feel lovely.

coco2901 · 08/02/2011 20:15

I'm 30 weeks now and still pretty much in pre preg clothes except for particularly rigid stuff (suit trousers, jeans, shirts) I've only bought a pair of jeans, a swimsuit, a dress and some underwear. I've put on about a stone.

Chynah · 08/02/2011 21:00

started having to use a hairband in buton on work trousers around 18-20 weeks just wore looser norml clothing really. Gave in to maternity trousers around 29 weeks but during second pregnancy stayed in my normal tops. Gained 17 and 11 lbs with my two pregnancies though (normal size 10) so not a lot extra to cover.

fallingandlaughing · 08/02/2011 21:46

erm.. about 6 or 7 weeks!

Got a handy trouser extender off ebay and have just gone into maternity trousers 2 weeks ago (nice not to be going around with my fly open). I am 17 weeks now. Don't feel like I have gained a lot of weight. I have quite a slight build and most of my clothes re quite fitted, so I didn't have much room for expansion.

JBrd · 08/02/2011 21:54

I was in maternity trousers by 12 weeks, with tops a bit later, around 16 weeks.

Hk13 · 08/02/2011 22:38

I'm 14 weeks with my 2nd and desperate to get into my maternity trousers, I'm fed up of sitting down and having to undo the top button of my jeans. I've already started to wear maternity tops - not because I need to but cba to do any ironing Blush

thornykate · 08/02/2011 22:53

I am 24+5 and can still get in my larger jeans with a bellyband button extender although they are a snug fit now. Bought 1 pair of smart pants & a bigger size in loose fit dresses as opposed to maternity clothes.

Have gone up from D to E cup size & put on nearly 2 stone although am not sure where it has all gone as people dont notice I am pg, they must just think I am piling weight on.

2BlackCats · 08/02/2011 23:06

Hmm waistline definitely has receded... 7 +3 approx, am fed up of normal trousers digging in, so have moved onto the maternity ones already - which I didn't do until approx 16 wks last time. Desperately still trying to not show though (don't think it is working!)

Did have a bit of a look around the shops this week to see if I could find any disguise clothes but didn't find much that appealed or even disguised - quite slim and tall so it is quite difficult to conceal. Hope it is just bloat and that it doesn't get much worse within the next 5 weeks otherwise may be difficult to explain in new job :(

1Catherine1 · 09/02/2011 00:55

34 weeks pregnant - still fit in my non-maternity jeans - although I no longer wear a belt with them as this is uncomfortable with the width and my bump. Have maternity trousers for work which fall down Blush, I bought these at 12 weeks due to my old ones being too tight because, erm, I got fat before pregnancy anyway and being tight around my waist set of my morning sickness. Still wearing my old size 14 t-shirts although they show an obvious bump now.

I'm guessing when baby moves down into pelvis I might find those jeans of mine tricky to put on but for now I'm managing quite well.

ohbabybaby · 09/02/2011 06:45

1st pregnancy - had to get new bra at 7 weeks, bursting out of size 10 tops and trousers at about 10 weeks, got some cheapo size 12s and 14s that lasted me until about 21 weeks.

2nd pregnancy - lost a bit of weight just before getting pregnant, but my normal clothes were size 12 and in style more generous around bust (not long finished BF'ing) and around tummy (didn't start out flat!). So although I definately got bigger quickly (I would say definate expansion by 6w too), I didn't have to get out those intermediate cheapo clothes.

Although 2nd pregnancy I expected to get bigger quickly I was very concerned at my size (concerned there was more than one!!!) but it turned out I was a week ahead of my dates, which made sense.

With pregnancy 1, my friend was pregnant with no.2 at same time, she was dismayed she showed so much more than me, then we hit 21 weeks and I went POP and everyone thought I was about a month ahead of her! So just because you might start off bigger doesn't mean you will end up bigger.

controlpantsandgladrags · 09/02/2011 06:53

Ist pregnancy I was in my non-materntiy trousers until 17 weeks. I had to buy new bras 4 times in the 37 weeks I was pg though!

2nd pregnancy I couldn't do my jeans up by 6/7 weeks. It all pops out much sooner 2nd time around Smile

Nicky7611 · 09/02/2011 12:34

Well it was around eight weeks I couldnt fit in my jeans, so had to switch to mat jeans which are so comfy and fab.

My work trousers went out the window before then, I bought a size 16 Primani pair to see me through for a while.

I'm normally a size 12, I had put on a little weight over christmas but I found out just after so I couldn't shift the excess lol.

Im ten weeks now and I seem to be really bloated, I have put on much weight either so it sticks out like a sore thumb. I'll be glad when I can tell everyone so I dont just look fat lol

beckie90 · 09/02/2011 13:13

im nearly 31 weeks and still in my size 8 clothes havent reeally gained anything yet as i did loose quite abit of weight in 1st trimester

CitizenOscar · 09/02/2011 13:33

Trousers & skirts (and bras) were uncomfortably tight by 10-12 weeks (1st pregnancy), but still OK in stretchy dresses, leggings, tops etc (21 weeks at the moment).

Have bought maternity trousers and new bras, and I feel quite big but most people still don't notice unless I point it out. Makes me realise how unobservant most people are!

slowshow · 09/02/2011 14:08

I'm 9 weeks and SO bloated. I could pass for 18 weeks, I swear. I'm really not sure what it is, because it definitely isn't my uterus.

Constipation, probably Blush

Makes getting dressed in the mornings a challenge. I keep getting paranoid that people at work are going to rumble me.

MrsCLH · 09/02/2011 14:16

I'm 7 weeks and yesterday I noticed that my size 8 skinny jeans were digging in a bit when I sat down but it was after lunch, just popped open the top button, luckily was wearing a long top with them :)

Agree with slowsho though, reckon its mainly constipation, second worst pregnancy sympton so far behind the nausea!

fallingandlaughing · 09/02/2011 19:33

2blackcats sounds like we are quite similar build. For me the key was loose tops (got them in French Connection and Kenneth Cole sales) with longish fitted cardigan or casual blazer (topshop) over them. Plus fitted trousers. I have felt huge for ages but have just started telling people at work (17 weeks now) and no-one had guessed! Carrying folders in front of belly helps too.

Bouncyminky · 09/02/2011 19:47

Thanks everyone. Really interesting to see there is a complete mix of late show-ers and early bloomers. Good to know it's not just me struggling!
