I'm the same when pregnant. How far along are you? I found it eased off in the second trimester and came back with a vengence in the last month.

The only tip I can think of it not keeping it in the house. At least the walk to the shops offsets it slightly!

I crave choc to extreme for a week then it goes completely every other week!!

When I am bad I have one large bar and when its gone its gone for that week. Cannot really travel anywhere or walk to shops at the moment so that helps the temptation (drives me to distraction). DH getting very good at eating choc before me grrrrr

heksie · 08/02/2011 14:45

Good luck with that! I agree, try only buying it when you crave it and walk to get it. and only have the max of £1 in your pocket!! The other thing you could try is choc covered raisins but then they still loaded with sugar from the raisin! Hope that helps, I put on loads of weight with DS1 from cravings so I understand completely

My DH keeps my stash of creme eggs topped up for me but they are in the sweet tin on top of the kitchen cupboard so I am rationed until he gets home Sad
It's slightly mean but if I can reach I will eat the contents of the tin with no guilt...
BABY NEEDS CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am OBSESSED with chocolate. I don't even like it that much, normally. I get the idea in my head and it's all I can think about. I'm 30 weeks and it's been pretty constant throughout. I am afraid I don't have any tips. I asked my midwife about it and all she said was 'just remember you'll have to lose the weight afterwards', which wasn't really the green light I'd been after.

Oh well.

Why did you have to mention Creme Eggs?! Want one.

LuluLozenge · 08/02/2011 14:57

I'm exactly the same. Just can't get enough. When I saw this post I was actually sat at my desk at work daydreaming about Green and Blacks dark chocolate with sour cherries...

I have been trying to curb my cravings with hot chocolate made from loads of unsweetened cocoa and only a tiny bit of sugar because I think I'm craving the cocoa more than the sweetness. Still, not as good as tucking into a piece of fruit or something :(

kampakat · 08/02/2011 15:01

Sorry JoEW - I have 5 of them ... if you can reach the top of my kitchen cupboard I'll share them Grin

duckmum · 08/02/2011 15:02

mmmmmmm Creme Egg. Not allowed to leave the house very frustrated (prem labour risk, 2 weeks till off the leash) want a creme egg now....

Idea! TESCO online order lots of creme eggs for tomorrow and not tell DH... Smile

Nothing really helps with cravings does it!!

AllBellyandBoobs · 08/02/2011 15:02

Yes, since about 30 weeks I have developed the sweetest tooth. I want cake and chocolate every day and have to confess to indulging myself. I walk to get it, and eat healthily the rest of the time... It seems almost physiological though, if I don't have something sweet I get a bit light headed and shaky as though my blood sugar levels have dropped so I'm convinced my cravings are medicinal in nature, not gluttonous :)

Boozilla · 08/02/2011 15:04

I had this with my DS, I just ate a chocolate bar every day and then tried to be super-healthy with everything else I ate to balance it out!

Try not to get too hung up on it, stay active, eat healthily the rest of the time and you'll be fine! You may have an extra couple of pounds to lose in the end but hey, haven't we all?? Smile

I've had a dreadful sweet tooth all through my pregnancy (am now 36wks). I started off with really sweet satsumas but it's now chocolate and lots of it. I've never had such a sweet tooth before.

I've found that drinking chocolate helps during the day to take the edge off a bit. BUT come 4.00pm and I sit down for my Midsomer Murder fix I guarantee I'll have munched through a whole box of Malteasers by the end!! Grin

(I've also found that tinned peaches also help with the sweetness craving, but nothing really beats a box of Malteasers!)

caramellokoalalover · 08/02/2011 16:00

Apparently having low iron can make you crave chocolate too...that's plenty excuse for me Wink

RayeB · 08/02/2011 17:39

Glad its not just me. I'm 37 weeks and normally not that bothered... Made batch of chocolate rice krispie cakes today and demolished them. Might try the don't keep it in house techniques. Would kill for cream egg!
