Some of you might remember I've posted on here a few times about various worries I had through my daughter's first pregnancy.

She went to hospital last night at 10pm, 5 cm dilated, waters broke 1130pm and a beautiful 7lb 4oz boy born just after midnight!!!!!

My daughter had no drugs, not even gas and air, and no stitches either, and mummy and baby are fine.

I was so worried but I'm so happy now.

Thanks to all of you who gave words of encouragement!!

thats really lovely, many congrats. Can I just say one thing though? Please try not to brag about how "well" your daughter did without pain relief, its not a competition and that kind of thing can make those who did / want to use pain relief somehow feel that they did badly.

Scouseem · 08/02/2011 10:27

Congratulations nanny and well done to your daughter you must be so proud of her.
Enjoy every minute of him because before you know it he'll be a little monkey giving you cheek. Xx

Lulumaam · 08/02/2011 10:31

that's a bit mean trixie. she's allowed to feel proud, does not mean she thinks other women not done well.... women should be allowed to share that they laboured without pain relief.

that's lovely news.... congratulations

pipoca · 08/02/2011 10:32

she didn't brag, just said she hadn't had any.

moregranny · 08/02/2011 10:34

Congratulations, my daughter is due to have her firt baby in June so I am as worried about everthing as you were, brilliant that labour went so well for her, will be keeping fingers crossed that ours goes as well, :)

TotorosOcarina · 08/02/2011 10:34

get a grip pixie!

Congrats!! Sounds like a lovely experience for her!

I had no pain relief with all 3 labour either, Wink Grin

PercyPigPie · 08/02/2011 10:40

Congratulations. [Misread 'Gordon Bennett as his name though Blush]

TotorosOcarina · 08/02/2011 10:40

I did that too mud!

CilantroLarry · 08/02/2011 10:44

Lovely news. Congratulations.

I know what you meant trixie, I don't think the op meant to imply that her daughter somehow did 'better' than people who need drugs/intervention though.

Sounds like she was lucky to have a straightforward and lovely labour. And Patrick is a great name.

FoxyRevenger · 08/02/2011 10:58

Oh fgs Trixie, don't be ridiculous. Let the OP be proud.

Second thread I've seen here in as many days where someone has said that. It's so bloody mean-spirited.

lucyjack · 08/02/2011 17:00

Hey trixie...I'm not bragging that my daughter had no pain relief! I'm actually gobsmacked that she didn't. When I had my kids I was like a druggie screaming for drugs...Any drugs...just give me anything you've got then double it up! It's certainly no reflection on anyone who does need pain relief...that's what it's there for.

Moregranny, I really do hope your daughter's labour goes well for her.

Just been in to see baby Patrick. He's GORGEOUS!!!

Congratulations lucyjack.

I had a very worrying PG first time and my mum was up the wall. Had C Section and a healthy boy.

My 2nd PG was perfect as was the birth but my mum was still up the wall Hmm! Had a girl.

She has banned me from having any more children as she still isn't over the first Grin.

I may not listen though Wink.

clouiseg · 08/02/2011 20:49

lucyjack congratulations...and WELL DONE to your daughter!!!

Can I just say that if a new mum posts on here that SHE had a completely natural birth no one has the right to burst her bubble...she should be bloody proud! And if a new grandmother does it, bless her for being so proud of her daughter!

You're damn right if I have my DC4 naturally in May I'll be hollering from the rooftops! Grin

Any woman who gives birth in my eyes is a complete star, regardless of whether they demand every drug going or not!

Ok, pregnancy hormone induced rant over. Blush

trixie123 · 08/02/2011 21:12

Sorry, didn't mean to sound mean spirited at all and I really am very pleased that it was such a nice calm birth its just something that you come across a lot on here, people feeling like they've failed somehow if they need lots of intervention. I wasn't even implying that the OP was bragging on the post, it was just a general observation.

thisisyesterday · 08/02/2011 21:14

congratulations to lucyjack's DD!!!

and congrats LJ on being a Grandma

and trxie... not the most appropriate thread to have a rant about it was it! way to spoil the moment

Thank you all so much for allowing me to share this incredible 24 hours with you.

I'm just completely on a high like I've never felt before and thanking God my daughter and grandson are well.

In the last couple of months we heard of Lily Allen's tragic loss, and now Amanda Holden, and my daughter too has suffered a miscarriage and all the despair it brings.

And so tonight nothing else matters to me except the safe arrival of baby Patrick and my daughter's wellbeing during his birth and afterwards.

I'm counting my blessings and thanking God, and I'm so grateful for all the support and kindness on here too.

Thank you again and God bless you all.
