Sometimes when i cough or sneeze it feels like i've ripped a muscle - is the normal? I don't remember it from last time and i'm sure i would because it really hurts!

Yeah I had this from very early on. Muscles just went to pieces!

I get this all the time and I always feel like I've been shot everytime I sneeze and normally end up curled into a little ball on the floor, only to jump back up again 10 seconds later! Sound familiar?

numptysmummy · 07/02/2011 14:07

Yep,very familiar - i have to hold myself until i finish coughing! It's agony!

A woman's abdominal muscles naturally stretch and start to separate and make a gap during pregnancy and they lose their integrity and strength. There is this book called Lose Your Mummy Tummy by Julie Tupler and there are exercises in there that you can do from 2 weeks postpartum onwards to help you strengthen your abdominals and help close the gap. Google diastasis recti.

Aww I know! I figured what I was doing wrong was holding the sneeze in, I don't really want to gross out the people around me by sneezing like my grand dad, but that tension of holding the sneeze or cough and making it sound like a mouse made things worse! Just go for the full blown sneeze! I'm not lying on the office floor as much as I used to now!

Sounds delightful! I guess after the no. of pregs i've had they are fairly knackered to begin with!

I find even when I turn over in bed at night sometimes there's a really painful twinge - I'm only at 6 weeks, not looking forwad to later on!

I have this really badly, on pg no4... but it is constant when walking... MW said the baby might be led funny against my siatic nerve? and that it may ease as it gets bigger and can't squeeze into my pelvis... i'm 29+3
