Pregnant and far from home?

Any other pregnant expats out there? I am 21+6 (with my first) and in the deepest darkest part of Eastern Europe. My choice, as DH and I work here, but it has been and is so difficult.

I haven't been able to ask any questions as my doc can't speak much English and there is a huge cultural divide in attitudes to pregnancy, relying on google is a bad idea as everyday I am worried about something new.

Will be having the baby in the UK, but feel so unprepared.

I'm not pregnant now, but I had my DD in Japan and my DS in Belgium.
In both cases culture and pregnancy norms were different and somewhat contradictory to what I had expected.
MN is really useful for when you want a British point of view on things, but you should also take into account the medial culture where you are. You might be surprised and find something that suits you.
For example, in Japan they say that you can eat almost anything during pregnancy, but they disapprove of excercise. I took the ideas that suited me and exercised freely like the British and ate everything and anything like the Japanese. DD was born healthy and safe.
Being pregnant abroad can be a positive experience, so try not to worry too much and enjoy it. :)

Yep, 30 weeks and abroad! Some things are stricter, others are more relaxed but the cultural divide does make things tricky at times. Thankfully I do speak the language so I can question things.
