Does anyone else forget how to spell when pregnant?

I had this embarrassing problem in my first pregnancy that I forgot how to spell loads of words, and it got worse the more pregnant I was! I'm an English teacher and home tutor so it got a bit embarrassing at times.

It seems to have started early this time - I am 16 weeks and couldn't spell 'agitated' today lol!!

Anyone else suffer from this strange pregnancy symptom?

Me too. Terrible. Sometimes I just look at the red wiggly 'you've spelled this wrong' underline and can't for the life of me work out how to spell correctly. That, and I fly off emails with all sorts of typos in that I miss completely.

(I'm an editor, so it's not helpful =)

I can still spell perfectly well - it's just that somehow my fingers seem to have acquired a mind of their own, and type it all however they damn well want!

Fantail · 20/02/2011 18:29

Yep, and failure to do even the most basic sums!

thefurryone · 20/02/2011 18:30

Not spelling so much but I can no longer cope with mental arithmetic something that I really used to pride myself on. It's like my brain can just no longer be bothered to go to the effort.

No, but I lose all ability to park.

I am having a 'mare with the spelling. So glad it's not just me. Grin

I'm a maths teacher and have lost the ability to add up Blush

No, but I forgot to stop at red traffic lights. And to check mirrors before reversing - Luckily I hit another car and not a person Blush

boredbuthappy · 20/02/2011 22:18

Yes, and I also find that words don't come out of my mouth the way I intend for them to!

AKMD · 20/02/2011 22:23

Yes. I used to be great at spelling and now can't spell for toffee. DS is 1 and I also still get my words mixed up when I'm speaking :(

cocoachannel · 20/02/2011 22:36

Absolutely. Throughout my handover notes I also confused 'there' and 'their', much to the amusement of the colleague I asked (thank goodness) to proof read them, as I am a total pedant normally.

caramellokoalalover · 21/02/2011 09:27

Wow I had no idea I could blame this on pregnancy, I just thought I was losing my mind when yesterday I had to google how to spell 'lying'...still looks weird to my pregnant eyes Blush

i suddenly have lots of sympathy and understanding for my Mother, as I understand what happened to her brain when she got pregnant with me (it just never recovered!)
