Kick Confusion - help

Ok so I probably should have spoken to my midwife at my last visit but they are always so keen to see me very quickly and get me out very quickly I almost don't have time to breath.

On the last few visits I have been checked by a trainee midwife, with another more experience midwife signing off her work, but never checking me herself.

I am 34 weeks pregnant so asked which way up my baby was - after much prodding.

MW: Head down, do you feel most of your kicks on the right hand side
ME: No
MW: Ok off the bed you get is that everything?

I am confused as most of my kicks, wiggles and squirms are low, beneath the belly button. I did say that they had reduced in force that they were more wiggly now - Again this was met with not much concern, in fact no comments at all. I guessed myself that just the reduction in space down there and that movement of any kind at the rate that i get (a lot) is a good thing!

I am prepped and armed with questions and a more forceful attitude for next time but any thoughts in the meantime?

I don't know about your situation, but I have noticed throughout my pregnancy that midwives and GPs do seem to make these comments almost as if they're musing out loud and actually they don't really mean anything. My GP is a real one for this and when I ask why she makes comments she doesn't have a straight answer.

I work on the assumption that if anything was wrong or unusual they would take action, further tests etc.

My baby is head down too boodles although I am only 22 weeks. I feel most of my movements very low too so I think they could be punches - I get the odd movement at tummy button level which I think must be kicks. My movements are also feeling quite 'deep' (as in not near the surface of my bump) so wondering if the little bugger is facing my back as well?

Mine swam round and round and round and round up until the day I gave birth! Even if it's breech, there's still time for it to move! I found that I could really feel where she was when I was lying on my side in bed and would literally see her feet scrape down my side! Don't panic! And my friends a trainee midwife and have kids of her own and she's nearly finished but is amazing! They go through so much training.
If your worried about it being wrong way up then when your watching tele in the evening, learn over a foot stool on all fours for about 1/2 hour a day! But don't panic!!! X x x

Thanks everyone - And coppernoddle thats really reassuring to hear. I am sure like you say cocoachannel that if there was any concern at all it would be flagged immediately. My pregnancy has gone like a dream so far so fingers crossed its the right way up one the big day!

Storninaccup - perhaps we just have little boxers in there, the punches are worse that the kicks thats for sure!
