Which wait was worse?

The wait between positive pg test and first scan confirming all is ok?

The wait between first and second scan?

The wait at the end once you hit 36 weeks even worse if you go over?

I personally found the wait to your first scan the hardest, even though I went two weeks over on DC2 wondered which others found hard.

36 weeks + ... still waiting.

I think because after pg test and first scan, I had no idea of what could go wrong. First and second scan ... I prepared myself for the worst and just ran with it.

Now - I know there's a healthy baby that is SO close to being born and am so worried that something will go wrong at the very last minute. I just want the baby!

I'm with Mahraih. 37 weeks and this wait is the worst because at least for the scans I had a definite date and time to look forward to!!

I am sooooooooooooo impatient!

CilantroLarry · 03/02/2011 11:22

Oh definitely the wait for the first scan. You feel crap, have nothing to show for it apart from bloating, acne, constipation, sickness, cramps, occasional worrying bleeding, loss of libido etc etc. No idea if it's all going to be okay, what's actually in there, if the hell of morning sickness is going to be worth it.

I liked the bit between the first and second scan as I felt so much better than I had, wasn't huge yet, could tell people etc.

And I LOVED the end bit. Wriggly baby, lovely bump etc.

Trinaluce · 03/02/2011 12:29

My worst wait was the 45 minutes before my scan: they were running that late, I was desperate to pee and one of the sonographers was coming to the water cooler every. five, minutes. to refill her mug.....

The wait for the first scan. Because in both cases it took us soooo long to conceive and I know so many people who've had bad news at this stage. I've got my scan for DC2 tomorrow and I'm so worried, although all symptoms have been as normal and I even think (although it's probably too early) that I've felt things going on in my belly.

I think it's worse this time around because I know what's at stake, having had DD a couple of years ago and knowing how much we adore her and what DC2 could be like. We also found out at an earlier stage that I was pregnant.

And you can't tell anyone or grumble about morning sickness or tiredness except close family and Mumsnetters!

The wait from 1st to 2nd scan was okay last time because we had a private scan in between. Don't think we'll bother this time. I could feel movement quite early on last time so knew all was probably well. This time I've got my NCT friends who I can talk to about it, whilst I wait.

Sorry to say it, but because DD was born in the summer, I didn't find the wait for her at 36+ weeks too bad (went 5 days overdue). The weather was glorious, so I sat out in the back garden on my birthing ball in the sunshine, bump out, reading books. It was fab, and I had a lovely tan in first photos with DD!

EauRouge · 03/02/2011 12:32

The worse for me was the 11 days I went overdue because of the constant 'have you had the baby yet' phonecalls Hmm We got caller ID in the end and ignored everyone except our parents.

WaddlingSheep · 03/02/2011 12:37

Definitely the wait for the 1st scan! Especially as I don't really get many symptoms in the first few weeks and I always worry whether there is actually a baby in there. I also MCd my first pregnancy so there is the fear of that happening again.

I'm currently 36+5 and trying to make the most of the last few week of what will be my last pregnancy. I'm uncomfortable and huge and really excited to meet my baby but I love being pregnant! Smile

pecka33 · 03/02/2011 12:49

the two week wait to find out if you are pregnant or not is a killer. But yes i agree the first scan, especially as ive had an mmc with my first pregnancy, even the thought of it now, feels me with dread!!!

Lulabel27 · 03/02/2011 13:54

I'm 41+1 and feel rubbish so I might be biased in saying the wait for baby to be born! People constantly asking for news, the physical tiredness and the inability to plan for anything!

Maybe in time and with reflection I might say the wait between BFP and 12 week scan - 6 weeks of hiding it and worry etc

caramelcoffeelover · 03/02/2011 13:59

it has got to be the time before the first scan! once you know everything is going well you can relax. that's how i feel but then again i didn't go overdue with my DD.

daisyj · 03/02/2011 13:59

I think especially for people who've mc, the initial wait for the first scan is the worst. My mc was at 11 weeks, and I felt so much safer after about 18 weeks, I just loved being pg, even when I was huge and nearly due, so I didn't mind waiting for dd at that point, as I knew she'd get here in her own time Smile.

nicolamumof3 · 03/02/2011 14:00

wait for first scan is a killer.

Shimmerysilverglitter · 03/02/2011 14:03

The wait for first scan. I had no pregnancy symptoms at all and was scared that there was no baby there. Was a sobbing mess from the moment the sonographer said "oh yes, here we are!" and turned the screen for us to see.
