Hey everyone! Well this is my first pregnancy and am little worried and just want to make sure everything goes well with it.
6 days back I had little bleeding for a day and then the next day onwards I am having watery brown discharge. I have heard spotting/ discharge for more than 2 days isn't good..anyone had such experience with successful delivery? My doctor has adviced to take duphaston for 14days and my u/s is scheduled next week since am just 5 weeks preg and its difficult to find heartbeat in the fetus so early.. Please advice...

Watery brown discharge can be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy.

I think you need to be seen today.

Have you had any pain - in your lower abdomen, or in your shoulder? (pain from ectopic can refer to there, strangely)

Please get this checked out today.

Good advice from Ingrid. It is important to get checked out. It may well be just one of those things but better to rule out any complications.

Do you know if your local Early Pregnancy Unit is self-referral? If so go straight there. They will be able to give you am internal scan to rule out an EP.

www.earlypregnancy.org.uk/FindUs1.asp

Lists EPUs.

Yes I had bleeding/brown discharge in early pregnancy and had a successful pregnancy. In fact it went on periodically for much of my pregnancy. It's fairly common apparently.

I always went to get checked every time it happened though. It's one of those things unfortunately that may be something or nothing.

What is duphaston btw?

Besom · 03/02/2011 07:45

My local early pregnancy unit were very good with me.

Since afternoon I also see some dark clots(very small and just 2).am afraid if its going to turn out as miscarriage but I have absolutely no pains! then what is it? or is it okay?..

@Ingrid: Well its not ectopic for sure because I had a scan the very day i had bleeding. they could see a sac but no heartbeat as I mentioned earlier...
@Besom: Thanks! its good to hear to that. and Duphaston is a hormone (progrestrone) which is given to support pregnancy..

I had brown discharge and pink watery discharge on and off for the first 13 weeks of pregnancy and even had some heavy bleeding and everything is fine. Im 24 weeks so far.

But I would say for your own peace of mind if nothing else to get it all checked out. Never feel like its silly or loads of others have been through the same thing, its your body and baby and you are not sure so get it checked out. And dont take no for an answer from some health practitioners. My local maternity unit were terrible during my last bleed and wanted nothing to do with me, ended up going to the hospital in the end and having the babies heart beat checked.

I hope everything is ok honey, Im sure it will be, fingers crossed.

I don't think there's much you can do except hope for the best until the next scan. It's a very anxious time - horrible. Fingers and toes crossed for you.

I had this for 2 weeks on and off over Christmas at 6-8weeks. Only had some period type pain/stretching and no clots. I had my first scan yesterday and baby was happily waving :)

Besom · 03/02/2011 21:02

Clots are probably just a bit of congealed blood which has gathered somewhere. Not necessarily anything more to worry about than you have already if they're only small (hope that makes sense).

Wow! Happy for you captainbarnacle! :)
I just hope besom this isn't a big problem. I am just thinking positive till i get my u/s next week.
Thanks a lot everyone for the reply :)
