Am 37+2 wks and have a really sore patch of skin on my bump. its next to my navel , there is absolutely nothing to see but it feels like its been burnt and is sore to touch.
Am sure its nothing but if anyone can shed any light on this would be very happy!!!

do you think its from 'inside'? because the skin around your tummy button just doesnt stretch very well and tends to be quite sore -okay really sore sometimes- as its doing so. if its an 'outside' pain tho I would get it checked out via midwife/dr. hope it eases for you!

I had a large painful patch a bit like that in the last couple of weeks of my pregnancy; it went down in a large triangle from my navel to my bikini line. The midwives said it was quite common but they didn't know what causes it - they suggested it was hormones. I found aloe vera gel was quite soothing, and the other thing I tried which helped (don't laugh) was nipple cream.

I have that pain too it's under my boobs- I'm 40+10 days overdue and it still hurts, just like sunburn, you're right. Walking around topless helps a lot?
Does anybody have numb patches on their tummy?

I have actually logged on today to try and research a painful area I have on my bump and lo and behold saw this thread.

I'm a lot less than you, 27 weeks, but my pain is about the size of a 50p and just below my left rib. Its very painful - a constant sharp, burning pain and also goes numb with pins and needles. Also very tender to touch. I had a check up yesterday and told the midwife who said she didn't know and I should make an appointment with the doctor if it continues/gets worse. So I don't have the answer and will keep 'em peeled on this thread for any more clues!

PS. I'm a Layla's mum too!

Saw my midwife today who also didn't really have a clue what it could be but to see GP if concerned.Think I will just have to put up with it until bab makes an appearance!!

Meid - very weird on the Layla thing -- Spooky

I've had a pain under my left rib for weeks (i'm 32 + 2) and my midwife told me that with the baby moving upwards, it was likely that it had dislodged a bone that extends from the bottom of my sternum. She said that when this happens, it can pull on the ligament and cause pain.

I know exactly what you're talking about as I had the exact same thing throughout the last trimester of my pregnancy...never found out what it was but I gave birth to a healthy girl and the sore patch disappeared. I think it was probably the baby pressing on a nerve or something like that. I wouldn't worry about it.
