Can I eat Port Salut cheese?

I just bought some as I've gone off cheddar big time. Then had a quick google and most sites don't mention it but one site says not to eat cheeses covered in wax for preservation.

It doesn't say why. Port Salut is a softish hard cheese and pasteurised so shouldn't be risk of listeria.

Anyone know?

I've been eating it as it's pasteurised. That and dairylea have been my yummy cheese replacements.

I ate it at the weekend! By my reckoning it should be fine as it's not blue or mould rinded.
