Help...am I miscarrying?

Sorry, I don't know what else to do except ask MN.

Got a BFP yesterday (AF was due Saturday), but about an hour ago I started getting really bad stomach cramps (like really heavy period pains) and when I went to the loo there was blood.

It's only when I wipe but it is pink/red.

I really don't know what to do...should I do anything now or wait until the morning?

It doesn't sound good does it Sad

No advice but didn;t want this unanswered. Sorry :( xx

I'm sorry Onoffon. I don't really see what you can do but wait and see.

Good luck!

pippibluestocking · 01/02/2011 22:51

No I am afraid not. Would wait if I were you, if it is a miscarriage, it will be like a very heavy period at such an early stage of pregnancy. When I miscarried at 7 wks, they didn't scan me or anything because I had passed the complete sac ( not sure if you would pass a sack at 4 wks). Maybe go and see your dr tomorrow. Sorry!

reddaisy · 01/02/2011 22:53

I'm really sorry. Perhaps you could ring NHS direct? I don't think (from my very limited knowledge) that they would do anything for you but it could help to talk to the professionals.

zippy539 · 01/02/2011 23:00

onoffon - nothing more to add except keeping all fingers crossed for you. Try and get some sleep although I know from experience that it won't be easy. You'll know more in the morning.

CherryPie3 · 01/02/2011 23:05

Hi there onoffon. I'm sorry youre having all this uncertainty :( not fun times at all.

I would also recommend waiting until the morning in the hope it may be just be nothing.
Many cases of bleeding in early pregancy are harmless and unexplained but all cause you the worry nonetheless.

If the bleeding continues (which I hope it doesn't!!) give your local Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit a call, or pop in if it's possible. I miscarried at 5/6 weeks and my EPAU were fabulous! They may not be able to scan you but they will definitely be able to offer medical advice as to what to/not to do.

Big un-MN (((hugs))) to you xxxx

susiey · 01/02/2011 23:08

I really hope its not bad news.I know how scary it is but all you can do is wait and see what happens.
do you have a walk in early pregnancy unit near you? I know at mine they had a walk in service if you arrived before 11.
If not they usually take referals from your gp.
take care

joiedebubble · 01/02/2011 23:11

I started bleeding when I was 6 wks, I called my doctor and he said to go home and rest and if there was anymore blood to go straight to A&E.

There was, but only light bleeding so I went to hospital just incase, had to wait for ages and when I was seen they gave me an internal examination and it turned out I was fine. No real reason for it apparently.

But best be safe than sorry!

Hope you'll be OK! :)

onoffon · 01/02/2011 23:22

Thanks so much for responding.

I guess it was very early days, and I'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I just panicked as I knew there was nothing I could do but guess I needed to ask anyway.

Off for a hug with DH and my cat. X

I really hope everything turns out ok for you onoffon. I read somewhere that you can get spotting around the time you'd expect your period while pregnant. Did you phone the hospital? x

tigerbear · 01/02/2011 23:34

Onoffon - I know it's easier said than done, but try not to panic. I'm 26 weeks pregnant but had what i thought was my period for at least a week at the start, when my period would have been due. It was quite heavy too and with cramps. The only reason I did a pregnancy test was because the 'period' was for about a week then kept stopping and starting again, altogether for approx 2 weeks, which I thought was odd.

Although I got a positive test result, I was absolutely sure I'd already miscarried or was about to (I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks the year before last, so just thought the same thing was happening again).

Happily things have worked out fine, and I now have a big bump :)

I second what others have recommended - go to your early pregnancy unit to get checked out. At this early stage they may not be able to see much if you have a scan, so they will probably do a blood test to check your hormone levels, then you'll be asked to go back a few days later to have another one. If things are going to plan, the hormone levels should have increased.

Good luck.

Just thought I'd update and say I woke up this morning and there was only a little bit of blood and the stomach cramps had gone, but I did two pregnancy tests (Inc a digital) and both now came back negative. Looks like it was a chemical pregnancy and not meant to be this month.

Thanks so much for your comments in my hour of need. x
