I am 14 weeks and have a headache pretty much all the time. Anyone else have this and is there a reason or do I just have to suck it up?

have you tried taking a paracetomol? as if yes, then contact your midwife and to see what is causing the problem.

bishboschone · 01/02/2011 12:56

yeah I have tried paracetomol but it doesn't do anything. I know I had them with my dd and I seem to remember my then midwife saying just get on with it. I have had may other problems including alot of pain and have come to the conclusion I am a bit rubbish at being pregnant.

Yes I am having them most days. Trying to avoid paracetamol, but even when I do take it, it doesn't do much. Generally end up having to go to bed early. Also having dizziness from time to time.

I didn't have this with my first pregnancy so it is a bit of shock to feel so rubbish this time. It's a complete pain isn't it (literally!)?

mamacorner · 01/02/2011 14:21

I had headaches through first 16-17 weeks of this 3rd pregnancy...midwife told me to drink plenty of fluids said it was hormonal ( isn't it all?!), I also found having a siesta each afternoon was the most effective cure, but then I work from home /self employed so i appreciate that may not be an option for you.

It did pass though and no problems for second two trimesters.

i think i have got used to mine, its like a constant dull throb. i might miss it when it goes, just like I shall miss the sickness ;)

bishboschone · 01/02/2011 14:43

Thanks everyone..I have made an appointment with the midwife , so if she has any ideas i will pass them on..

I am having headaches every day too. It's getting really annoying now. People keep telling me it's high blood pressure, but the midwife is not worried when she takes my blood pressure.
Now my son is on school, I can manage a siesta, which helps (until I wake up lol), plus early nights.
Interested to see what your midwife says :)

Twinklebum · 01/02/2011 19:25

with my previous pregnancies i have had them only thing that helped a bit was that 4head stuff.

bishboschone · 02/02/2011 12:13

well I have been..her suggestions were, get my eyes checked and back checked. I think I will buy some of the 4head stuff. Essentially get one with it..Oh well, worth a try.

well, what more could we hope for? I got some 4head today, and it certainly eased it :) Didn't even get travel sick!
Hope you find something that works!

COCKadoodledooo · 02/02/2011 18:47

NOt enough water! Seriously, drink gallons. I kept getting bad headaches and when I upped my water intake they disappeared (4 or 5 litres a day btw).

bishboschone · 02/02/2011 18:59

oh jeez....I am in the loo enough as it is
...I will try the forehead stuff and try and drink more

I get migraines when i get stressed atm

CAS77 · 02/02/2011 20:43

Aargh! I've had another all day headache today. Literally woke up with it and still have it now. Paracetamol does nothing. It's really grim is'nt it? Will try the 4head stuff though and drinking more.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 02/02/2011 20:48

I had a phase of that in both pregnancies, around early part of 2nd trimester too I think. 4head helped a bit. The good news is it went away again on its own after a while (can't remember how long but it was counted in weeks rather than months at least!).

cece123 · 02/02/2011 22:42

Cas77 i have the 4head stuff and it's ok for a slight headache but i found lying in a dark room with my eyes covered for an hour helped me more. Hope you get it sorted cause headaches really drain you Sad

funnylittlekaty · 03/02/2011 21:17

I did....awful awful awful. Eventually took a day off to try and shift a real rotter but nothing worked. They stopped off their own accord though at around 17/18 weeks so hang in there. Good luck
