Head engaging - what does it feel like? Is it painful?

I'm 35/36 weeks pregnant and have been feeling pretty good on the whole. Since late afternoon yesterday I am occasionally feeling pressure on my pelvis and occasional desparate need to pee (when I don't really). What's bothering me is that my bum really really really hurts. It's like a deep muscular pain. I phoned a midwife who said that as long as there's no bleeding and I can still feel the baby moving I shouldn't worry and should just take a few paracetamol to relieve the pain.

Just wondered if anyone else had experienced anything like this? Confused

Thanks

For me I knew the head had engaged when it felt like I had a really heavy tennis ball sort of between my legs, really low down. It made me want to walk funny! I remember I felt a 'pressure' down there, but not so much a 'pain'. Not sure if that helps at all though, sorry!

The pressure can be the baby trying to engage, I remember it felt like baby was gonna fall out he put so much pressure down there an felt like he was right between me legs.
It could also be that baby is laying on a nerve which my DS also did and that was like muscle pain and I could hardly walk, think that was near the end he did that.

'Near the end'. Crikey. That's scary!

Thanks both
