SPD/PGP and aquanatal

I have had pelvic girdle pain since 8 weeks (am now 29) and have been managing it ok with rest/support belt, but walking is now getting more painful and difficult so am doing a lot less of it.

I've done a bit of bobbing about in the pool recently which I've enjoyed, and would like the social aspect of a class rather than being resigned to the sofa for the next ten weeks but don't want to make things worse.

Would an aquanatal class be a suitably gentle way of exercising with the condition or am I being silly - would it be too strenuous on my hips and pelvis? Does anyone have any experience of it? Any advice would be much appreciated.

I think it would be helpful as my own PGP is usually better when I make it along to aquanatal. The water is so supportive, the exercises are designed by midwives in order that they don't aggrevate SPD/PGP and it's good for morale too. Go go go! But if i doubt, check with your midwife first.

Thanks very much CalaLilly, that's reassuring. I am seeing my midwife this week so will have a chat with her, she can be a bit vague though!

I was worried about it feeling fine whilst in the water but painful later, so nice to know you have found it helpful in the same situation.
