Hi. I'm 28 wks pregnant. I got up to answer the phone about half an hour ago and my heart started racing and feels like it is going to pop out of my chest! It's still going on and I am just sitting at the PC taking deep breaths to try and get it to calm down!
Is this normal in pregnancy? It's the first time I have experienced this, thanks.

I've had it this pregnancy, and it was quite scary at first. I put it down to all the extra blood and body stress. I read something the other day that said by 27 weeks nearly all your internal organs have been rearranged, so I guess there's bound to be a bit of 'adjustment'.

Just take it easy and don't worry, or mention to MW when you next see her.

I had a bit of this when pg with DD a few years back. It was purely a pregnancy thing, I was monitored for a while after having DD but have not noticed it since.

But you should mention to MW, just in case.

I had this too and sometimes get it when I'm not pg and have had an ecg which was normal.
I was taught a technique to get your heart back to normal and I'm going to try and describe how to do it but it sounds a bit rude! Put your thumb in your mouth and seal your lips around it then blow really hard without letting any air out, literally until you go red in the face. (I'm pmsl writing this, it's so much easier to describe in person!! Blush) I suppose it could be done wo pouting your thumb in your mouth but that was the way I was shown.
try it, it works for me

I had this in the middle of the night a few weeks ago and to be honest it did really scare me. However, I did post here about it the next morning and it turns out it's not all that unusual.
