hi all
having the most excruciating lower back pain especially when sitting down, better when standing up. have tried hot baths and a few stretching exercises. anyone got any ideas about relieving this pain as it is driving me mad not being able to sleep (perhaps this is training for when the baby gets here only 11 weeks to go!!!:)

Hi has your Mw been able to tell you which way round the baby is? I had bad back pain because the baby had decided to settle back to back and this can cause lower back pain.
Try to be upright as much as poss, sit on a birthing ball, or upright chair so your knees are below your hips to help encourage the baby into a more comfortable position. Then pelvic tilt exercises can help stretch things a bit in the morning to loosen your back. It's worth mentioning it to yuor mw as they may be able to refer you to physio.

I saw an osteopath this week for less severe back pain. She only did a little bit but it's really helped. If you are in London I went to the British school of osteopathy which was only £20 per session. I was seen by a final year student under supervision.

I also invested in a pregnancy pillow which has been great.

Hope it improves soon.
