Belly bands - any good?

I'm only 29wks, but my bump is feeling huge & heavy, will those "belly bands" offer much support or are they just for keeping your bump covered up?

didn't work for me... i think if you are petite built, these do not work as they are made quite large even in the smallest size... i think you can try a pregnancy belt (i haven' tried one yet, bt plan to buy one later)...

The ones I had weren't really designed for support, just to cover the gap between your t-shirt and (undone) waistband and flies, so you could get away with non-maternity clothes for longer.

Think they're more for covering up (I love mine, but they don't give much support).

I got a support kinda one from mothercare for my first pregnancy but didn't find it all that good, made bump feel very hot and found it annoying.

The stretchy material ones you buy from shops provide little to no support. I got a special belt from a physio for SPD which did provide support but was £40. I don't know how easy they are to get hold of in the shops/online

These ones I used have given me some light back and pelvic support/relief.

They've also helped keep my trousers and skirts from falling down as my belly got bigger!

I liked the 'fashion' ones which meant I could wear my pre-pregnancy tops and just cover the bottom of my bump. But none of them worked as support. I even got a proper support belt from a physio, but it was just hot and restrictive.

I got a 3-pack of bump bands from New Look, (£9.99 for black, white and grey) so I could keep wearing normal work trousers up until about 35 weeks. They were ok, although I did find myself pulling them up during the day to cover the gap between top and belly as I got bigger. I wouldn't recommend them for really big bumps like mine!

I am currently 11 weeks with DC2 and the bands were one of the first things I pulled out of my box of maternity clothes. Essential at this stage of pregnancy to hold up trousers and help to conceal a bump if needed.

I can't remember where I got them from but it was online. They are like boob tubes, tight Lycra tubes and I love them.

The ones I bought elsewhere were useless. So I'll keep wearing these ones until they fall apart!

Thanks for the info guys, I won't bother to buy any belly bands if all they're going to do is cover my bump up!

I'm probably just being a wimp (this is my second, but the first arrived at 33wks & I don't remember feeling this bulky then!), but if it gets worse I'll maybe try a pregnancy belt like this or this
