Need positive stories where BFP was not getting darker quickly

Apologies in advance for this - I'm in a very needy mood today as have just had a BFP following an ectopic pregnancy back in May 2010.

I had thought my period was due today, though could be tomorrow or next day I suppose.

I've been getting v faint BFPs since Monday though. Wednesday's was still faint but obviously there. Tested again today for reassurance (idiot) and the line is hardly any darker.

Please come and tell me this is normal. They are cheapy test strips that are supposedly sensitive to 10miu.

Another question now I think of it: was seeing GP for an ill DD yesterday and she phoned hospital re BFP. They want me in for a scan on Wednesday, having been told all my dates correctly.

Is this not a bit early - I'd be 4+5 max? Will they be able to see anything either in right place or in tube?

Ps at my 5 weeks scan they told me they would be able to ectopic. And my 4 week was internal and the rest were abdominal. X

Thank you JC17. Really useful to hear about your experiences.

At this point all I care about is whether it's ectopic in my remaining tube. If there's a reasonable chance they can tell that on Wed, then that's fine.

It sounds awful but if it's not ectopic but still fails to progress, I won't be half as upset as if it's ectopic. At least with another mc I can try again. With another ep, it's game over really.

Fingers still crossed!

youtalking bear in mind that if it is another ectopic but caught early there is every chance your tube will be saved and so not so much game over as play suspended Wink

I've got my fingers crossed for you. I had an early viability scan yesterday (private - I've been irrationally worried. Pregnant women, irrational? Never(!)) and at 7+3 saw the heart beating in the 1.28cm little blob! Really, really hope such a sight is in your near future too.

youtalkingtome · 31/01/2011 07:22

Just seen this Manda - hooray for your heartbeat!

I like 'play suspended' - nice use of my analogy there!

And thanks for the hug , no hormones here, honest.

Will be back after scan on Wed...

Update: unfortunately it looks like it was a chemical pregnancy.

The irony is if I had carried on testing, I would have known it.

Ah well, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

By the way, if anyone is in a similar boat post-ectopic, attempting to scan so early is not the best plan. They were most perturbed that someone at the hospital had insisted I come at such an early stage Confused.

On the up side, the lovely nurse was insistent that the chemical pregnancy means my remainig tube is working. I'm a touch sceptical about this but will try to embrace her positivity for the future.

One more thing (free therapy!) - she said I wouldn't get a period for a while as the body ovulates again once the hormone levels are back down. So we could be talking 4-6 weeks. Now I didn't know this about a cp - I always assumed you got a period quite quickly, ie you might never know you'd had one if you didn't do a pregnancy test. More Confused.

Thanks all for your replies earlier.

Sorry to hear your news youtalkingtome, thinking of you Sad

happywheezer · 03/02/2011 10:37

I never had a dark and darker positive line with DS2.
I also bought the expensive clearblue digital that tells you.
It didn't tell me I was pregnant just 4-5 weeks, so I did another one the next day and this time said pregnant 4-5 weeks. I'm 25 weeks now- with DS2. good luck!

Sparklies · 03/02/2011 15:50

Oh, poop, yttm THis thread had fallen off my active threads so... haven't seen until now.

So sorry to hear it was a chemical, hopefully you'll go on to have much better luck. There's a theory that after a chemical/early pregnacy you may be more fertile the following month as your body is already 'in the zone'. I hope you prove it correct!

mrsCBradders · 05/09/2016 18:06

In my experience, I have had early positive tests and also some very late past my AF date and pains that you wouldn't believe weren't AF!!!

So I got x8 cheap internet test from the same packet. Dipped them in the same pot of urine for the same amount of time and they all had varied colours. Some said positive dark, some you had to squint some just weren't positive at all.

I then also took ( knowing I was pregnant) a clear blue with a cross on, it took ages and was very faint. So all I can say is a positive is a positive. Don't stress on the shade of the positive

Got much better results using ovulation tests

This thread is more than 5 years old mrsC and the OP said she'd had a chemical!

Pollyrose1x · 12/03/2019 20:09

i need help with this same problem.
My last period was January 28th 2019. I tested for pregnancy on 5th March 2019 with a first response which had a clear but only light pink positive line. I tested for pregnancy yesterday using a clear blue digital which said pregnant 3+ weeks and I tested for pregnancy today to see an improvement in my HCG line using a first response and it was still a light pink. Today I don't have any pregnancy symptoms aswell :( Very worried.

Kmy88 · 07/03/2021 05:49

Do you still have the progression

Stacelou29 · 10/05/2021 20:27

I need advice and possible reassurance 🥺
I have a lot of positive (faint) pregnancy tests including digitals saying pregnant 1-2. But I tested today and it's still faint, I must be 14-15 DPO! Anyone have advice or a similar situation? 🥰 Thankyou
