Could I be pregnant?

Good morning!

Sorry to dive right in but am unsure how else to word this?

Me and my partner last had unprotected sex 8 days ago. My period was due a couple of days later, on the 22nd January. A few days ago I had that strange cramp you have just before your period, and as I was about to go to bed I decided to put in a tampon to avoid any ?accidents? in the night, as I have quite a heavy flow. The next morning I woke up and was confused to see that my period hadn?t arrived as expected ? in fact, I?m now six days late. To give you a little background, I was diagnosed with endometriosis two years ago and had an operation on my left ovary, but in the last six months I?ve had barely any symptoms and my periods have been regular as clockwork. I?m eating well, I?m not stressed, and I haven?t lost weight.

Although it is probably far too early to take a test, I bought a pack of two tests yesterday. The first one was negative...

... but still my period doesn?t come ? although my boobs have grown, which is always a bonus Smile

Could I be pregnant?

Kitty

If you had unprotected sex then in theory you could be pregnant, although if it was three days before your period was due, therefore around day 25 in your cycle it's unlikely.

Wait another few days then test again

If you are six days late and you have a negative test, I'd say you are probably not pregnant.

I 'took a chance' as my period was due 3 days later so thought i would be pretty much safe.

When period didn't arrive i took a test but it was negative, waitied a week and re-tested and it was a very faint positive.

9 months later twins arrived :)

You may well be pregnant as you could have ovulated late like me.

Good luck and i hope it all goes the way you want.

Thank you all for your replies! I also thought it was a bit late in my cycle for anything to happen, but knowing that it wasn't impossible made me think twice now that my period is so late...

We're not exactly planning to have a baby, but decided to stop using contraception as we've been told there is a possibility of having fertility problems in future. I know he'd be thrilled (and a little terrified!) if I ended up getting pregnant earlier than expected Smile
