Can I ask when you all first 'felt' pregnant?

My mum says that she felt pregnant straight away - as in the day after she conceived.

I am ttc but am not optimistic about my chances this month as I don't feel any different.

When did you all feel pregnant and how would you describe the feeling?

I did too, as did my mother in her time, but at least one of my two sisters didn't (not sure I've ever asked the other..) so I wouldn't necessarily say all those things run in families.

My mother's pregnancies were completely different from her sisters' too.

Rupsje · 27/01/2011 17:11

Haha! I am now 7 weeks and still don't feel very different. Which is why I have averaged about 2-3 pregnancy tests a week since I found out, just to keep checking it is really true!

Good luck!

round about the first few days my period would have been due, i got very weepy and clingy to EXP both times. the second time i recognised the clingness and knew i was pregnant.

I want to know this too! MIL just died and we are all staying at PILs to organise things and help out. SIL (DH's bro's partner) said she wasn't feeling well. FIL asked what was up and she said she felt tired, sick, and had a headache.... then our eyes met across the room in a moment of panic!
But her period is due on sunday so could she really be?

Misty9 · 27/01/2011 17:14

I had an inkling I was pregnant when I did the test on New Year's Day - but now I'm 8 weeks I feel less and less pregnant and worry sometimes that I've dreamt it up!
OH thinks I'm a bit loopy, but I said what if we get to the scan and there's nothing there?! This is despite a scan at 6+5 showing a lovely embryo and yolk sac... Blush

I think I'll feel more pregnant when other people know, and I've got a bump :)

MotherMountainGoat · 27/01/2011 17:21

With DD1 I felt weird very quickly afterwards, but put it down to a virus. With DD2 I knew for sure two days after the date of conception, when I went to bed at 6pm and felt sick at the thought of coffee or alcohol.

It was really frustrating when I POAS a week before my period was due and got a BFN, because it was so obviously wrong.

Japers · 27/01/2011 17:21

Around about 7-8 weeks when the nausea and constant pee needing started and didn't stop until around 20 weeks by which time there was a big bump.

ecuse · 27/01/2011 17:25

Well I suspected I was pregnant when I had sore boobs at 6 weeks but, other than that, I didn't feel pregnant (in the sense it seemed real to me) until I could feel the baby moving at 17 weeks. Certainly when I went for early (9 week) scan and 12 weeks scan it was strange to see an actual baby inside me as I could have forgotten all about it otherwise. It probably helps that I was basically symptomless in the first trimester; no puking!

With this pg (just tested bfp today! Am almost 5 weeks) I have felt pg for a fortnight or so...and dreamt i was too! Smile

Previously, when pg with ds, I struggled to believe it for ages as I was scared I would mc again. Sad

mamsnet · 27/01/2011 17:50

Congrats MoonFace! Smile

theonlyhb2 · 27/01/2011 17:53

I am still half convinced I just have the worst ever stomach bug! I have been throwing up since I found out at about 5 weeks (I think this was a coincidence!)

I did a test cos I was a week late and I had spent 2 weeks crying (a few teary days before my period is normal, but not for these full on tear attacks).

Cant wait for the scan next week as I am sure its all just a joke

spatchcock · 27/01/2011 18:03

I'm 17 weeks today and don't feel pregnant, just fat (which a couple people have kindly pointed out to me). My boobs and belly are both growing outwards.

I can feel a definite bump growing but still don't 'feel' anything. Did not have ms, fatigue - anything.

LoopyLoopsHasComeBackBrighter · 27/01/2011 18:05

First time - when I did the test, this time 3 days after conception, had top stop breastfeeding DD as was too sore.

pozzled · 27/01/2011 18:10

This time I 'felt' pregnant about 4 days after my period was due. I hadn't tested until then as I was convinced it wasn't going to happen that month, and was actually thinking 'I wish my period would hurry up so that we can get on with TTC for next month! Grin Then my boobs started hurting so by the time I did the test I was pretty sure.

With my DD (first pregnancy) I think it was around the same time, but in that case it was the morning sickness that I felt first.

PipPipPip · 27/01/2011 18:24

To be honest, I haven't really felt pregnant all pregnancy! Right up until my 12 week scan, I was thinking "gosh, well, I guess those pregnancy tests must be accurate but....?"

RugbyWidow7 · 27/01/2011 18:43

I really felt it instantly, which suprised me. I was really bloated, incredibly thirsty and had v sore boobs - plus unlike me, I wasn't really enjoying the thought or taste of alcohol any more. I'm sure there were lots of other things which felt different too but these are the main ones.

LizaJP · 27/01/2011 18:56

TBH, I didn't really feel pregnant with my 1st one until I saw the scan. 2nd time I was quite surprised when I the test was positive - even though we'd been trying for a few months. I didn't really 'feel' pregnant at all - I think after having a couple of months where I was convinced I was pg, then was disappointed, I wouldn't let myself believe it until I saw the evidence!

Wombat33 · 27/01/2011 19:14

Am currently 7wks and still don't feel pregnant. Despite scan this afternoon showing bean with heart beating away. Amazing but very strange - definately doeosn't feel real!

lilly13 · 27/01/2011 21:23

when i started feeling the baby's movements at around 19 weeks and my stomach popped out...

FeralGirlCambs · 28/01/2011 09:08

I'm over 13 weeks and still don't feel pregnant - my boobs hurt a bit early on and I had some very mild nausea, but have been lucky enough not to be sick and am obviously too insensitive to feel anything else. been pretty tired since about week 8, though.

nannyl · 28/01/2011 09:10

by 4 - 5 weeks i was exhausted

by 5+5 i was sick
im now 7+3 signed off with severe morning sickness and definitley know im pregnant. Already fed up of it!!!

ttalloo · 28/01/2011 09:13

With DS1 I felt pregnant within a week of conceiving - I had heartburn (which carried on until he was born), felt really tired, and my boobs seemed enormous.

With DS2 I had no clue. It was DH who wondered (as we were ttc) whether my period was overdue. I didn't feel any different until morning sickness kicked in around 7 weeks.

Mum2Pea · 28/01/2011 09:43

1st time- had been trying for 3 months, didn?t expect it to happen anytime soon so wasn?t thinking about it at all. I wasn?t due to start my period until the next week Monday and on the thurs previous, I just had a ?feeling? but no symptoms. Convinced DH I wasn?t psycho! and final managed to do a test on the Sunday and it was positive. Didn?t get sickness til I was 6 weeks and didn?t actually feel any movements until 22 weeks, so its not like I'm really in tune with my body or anything! So not sure what had made me so sure.

2nd time - had been trying for 3 months, didn?t expect it to happen anytime soon as had been so lucky the first time. I wasn?t due to start my period until the Wednesday and on the Saturday previous, just had a feeling, again but again no symptoms. Think this time DH trusted me a bit more and so, did the test on the same day and again a positive. Didn?t get sickness til I was 6 weeks and didn?t actually feel any movements until 17 weeks this time (so again quite late for a 2nd baby)

So think it is possible to just ?know? ? I?ve never felt it at any other point in my life or taken any other tests other than these 2 occassions, so there must be a reason why I just ?knew?, even before AF was due.
