[blush] pregnancy-brain moment at work...

Sailed into a meeting with Very Big Cheese yesterday clutching notepad and pen, prepared to be professional and strategic and to wow him as I know he thinks I'm a little inexperienced still...

... realised that I had notepad but my "pen" was in fact my blusher brush.

had to zip out of his office to borrow a pen from his PA.

Low point of pregnancy brain moments so far. Any others?

I went to meet some girlfriends for lunch last week. Parked my car in front of the pub, got out and went in. Car keys still in the ignition, radio on full blast, and I only noticed when I couldn't find my keys on the way back to the car Blush.

It's definitively pregnancy brain, I've never ever done this before. Fortunately, no one wants to steal a 12-year-old beaten-up Volvo! Grin

Had a conversation with someone I know reasonably well, got about ten minutes in on the assumption that it was someone totally different, said something that made it blatantly obvious that this was so, major major Blush And I was only about 7 weeks at the time so didn't feel I should explain. Haven't seen him since and still blush when I think about it. Had to continue the conversation with lots of very specific refs to his job, his kids, in the hope of somehw glossing over the blatant mistaken identity. Love the car one!

I went to defrost something for dinner and opened the dishwasher door instead of the microwave Confused

SMummyS · 27/01/2011 15:20

Cup of tea in the fridge, milk bottle in the lounge with me!!

Absolute meltdown yesterday thinking my car had been stolen from outside work, only to remember it wouldn't be there anyway as DP brought me to work....

I'm only 11weeks Blush

sh77 · 27/01/2011 16:00

Yep ng I put milk in dishwasher instead of fridge. Walked away many times without debit card after paying.

hhg · 27/01/2011 16:17

Just gone to entirely wrong place for a meeting, as both begin with letter L

Mum2Pea · 27/01/2011 16:32

Booking tickets for a family day out. Checked and double-checked with all involved what the preferred date would be, Saturday or Sunday of the weekend in question and all said Sunday.

So, of course, I booked tickets for the Saturday.... Blush

suedehead · 27/01/2011 18:32

urgh, I thought I was doing quite well but clearly not... Made my brother-in-law a cup of tea the other day without actually boiling the kettle. He was polite enough to ask if it was one of those 'special iced teas'....

Last night, parked the car up on our (sloping) drive. Returned to it to head out to antenatal class to find it had slowly slid into the garage door. Am hoping there's a problem with the handbrake rather than my brain, but sadly I fear it's the latter...!!

Good luck ladies - it can only get worse...

Forgot my office phone number in mid-sentence leaving a message for a patient. Blush "Hello, it's Dr. Jacksmama, thank you for your call, I will be in the office until 5:30 today, please ring me back at 604-514-... errr... 604-514-... um... actually, I'm sure you have the number, so please ring back at your earliest convenience."

Shit Blush

Thankfully I'm on maternity now!

I work in a psychiatric hospital and when I was talking to a patient (sectioned with a diagnosis of BPD, schizophrenia and mood disorder) I said something daft as I'd forgotten something she said earlier.
I then drew more attention to this by putting my hand to my forehead and saying 'honestly, I think I'm going mad - I'm definitely losing my marbles this pregnancy' Shock luckily she just laughed Blush

last friday i forgot to put petrol in my car and broke down.... after fuelling up at the supermarket, i threw in some baby mitts with my shopping and put them away in the fridge when i got home Blush

Natzer · 27/01/2011 19:15

When I was about 11 weeks pregnant I stopped and filled up with diesel, went into the M&S garage shop to buy my lunch and came away.

That evening I had a phone call from PC someone at the local police station asking me to confirm that I had been to said petrol station that day, it suddenly dawned on me that I had paid for my dinner but not mentioned the £50 of diesel I had taken. OOops! Blush

Darlingdamsel · 27/01/2011 19:21

Mumby - I just spit out my juice reading that. Oh my ... that caught me off surprise.

nancerama · 27/01/2011 21:33

I got ready for bed the other night, and then headed for the bathroom. Had a total absent moment and chucked all my dirty washing down the loo.

jenga079 · 27/01/2011 22:02

nancerama that's hilarious!

Got to check out at supermarket, couldn't find debit card. Lovely check out lady said she'd "put it all through slowly" so that I could run back to car. Couldn't find car. Realised I'd borrowed DP's. Found debit card. Ran back to check out. Could not for the life of me work out the pin number (the same pin number I've had since I was 18!). Poor, patient check out lady called manager, who fortunately let me use a proper old school card machine that I signed.

I am sooooooo sorry to anyone behind me at that check out.

SpannerPants · 27/01/2011 22:02

I keep putting the clingfilm away in the fridge and the milk in the cupboard! I'm sure my DP thinks I've completely lost it!

omnomnomtom · 28/01/2011 09:25

Went out yesterday with two watches on... It might catch on?

BlingLoving · 28/01/2011 10:22

Oh, this is brilliant. I feel SOOO much better. nancerama - yours is the best!

I left my door keys in the patio door (along with the car keys) all night! Luckily nothing was stolen, but I think the best bit was my DP came in the house after I did!!

Loving the stories

theonlyhb2 · 28/01/2011 12:31

i am impressed at anyone coping at work. 11 weeks, constant sickness, I have taken to working from my bed today and I cant remember simple parts of my job that I been doing for 8 years
