Maybe but it is more to do with cervix ect softening and stuff isnt it.

I was convinced DS2 was going to be early due to much of the above and he arrived 40+11 after induction so who knows.

First timers tend to deliver a little later than due date. MW told me this week that head will start to engage around 36 weeks and so what you are experiencing seems normal unless you have other signs of labour.

cookingfat · 27/01/2011 13:24

I'm 38+6 (woo hoo) and baby has been engaged for a couple of weeks. I guess I could still be early, but am not convinced.
On the plus side, my midwife told me that the first timers delivering later thing is a myth (crosses fingers and bounces on ball some more!).

I am due a few days before you but I don't think my baby is engaged yet - however I am still hoping he will come soon!

GOOD LUCK fen!

DD was fixed and engaged from 31 weeks. She stayed that way for 8wks.

And the weight is just an estimate.

None of it really tells you anything.

The average length of a first pregnancy is 41+1, and for subsequent PGs is 40+3 weeks.
But no one can say when an individual baby will be born...

Hi,
Im also due on 20th Feb. Baby not engaged, has been head down for the last 6 weeks but at 8 am turned into breech position. Had check up scheduled with midwife today and she did a scan to confirm.

Not sure if bubs will turn again. Looks like a csection will be on the cards if she doesn't.
To be honest I don't mind if she does come into the world via a section so will just have to wait and see.
Good luck with yours and hope he doesn't arrive early.

My midwifentold me I was 3/5 engaged at 34 wks and I was all excited thinking she would come early. My due date came and went on Wednesday I'm now 40+2 and no sign of anything imminent...

My nct friend was never engaged and she gave birth on saturday a week early!

I don't think there's a pattern :(

thanks everyone, will do as Cookingfat says and cross fingers and bounce on ball a bit more!!
for medical reasons they wont let me go more than 2 days overdue but i really dont want to be induced if i can help it!!
