Hello Ladies,

I'm presuming this is SPD/PGP but didn't expect that it could happen this early on.

I'm going to try to control it as best I can but if it gets any worse will be making a trip to the dreaded docs ( I have an irrational fear of going to the docs a kin to someone with a fear of the dentist!)

Has anyones out there had any experience of this or something similar? Have you got any tips on how to ease the pain?

TIA

I've had trouble with my hips - only a little in 1st pg, but a lot more in this one (19+6 at the mo).

Talked to doc about it at about 14 weeks (trouble started at about 10 weeks) and he referred me for physio. Had first session 10 days ago and it has really helped. Interestingly, she said that 17 weeks is when the relaxin peaks - retrospectively I think my pain was at it worst at about this point in my 1st pregnancy and I'm hoping it's the case in this one too.

Saying that, I know people for whom it has got worse :(

Basically my advice is, talk to your midwife and get referred for physio, sooner than later.

Good luck with everything

StormBird sorry you're going through this. SPD isn't really just a late stage thing for lots of people, as it relates to the hormone relaxin, rather than just the weight of late pregnancy, so it's not that unusual to get it from earlier like you have.

Definitely tell your MW, as I got physio at the hospital and also a support belt, which although they haven't got rid of it, they have made some aspects of it slightly more breable (i.e. I am no longer crying at the thought of having to walk 5 minutes to the sandwich shop at lunchtime!).

So defo talk to your MW about it sooner rather than later so you can get your referral.
