Maternity swimwear

Hi there,

Looked down at myself this morning in the changing rooms at the pool and noticed my boobs are popping out of my swimming costume. Blush

Any suggestions for maternity swimwear? There is very little in my size on eBay and I don't want to spend much. Am 17 weeks.

It's for swimming lengths, by the way - not really up to flaunting my bulges on the beach. So something with good support would be best.

I've just bought this maternity tankini from mothercare which is a nice fit, I did have to try a few sizes to find one snug enough to hold my boobs in/up though.

It's more than I would have really liked to spend but as we're going on hols next week I didn't want to risk ordering online and it not arriving! They had quite a few different styles too.

I got this one, I found it perfect for lengths.

I bought the spotty tankini from mothercare and it's been an absolure nightmare, wish I'd just gone for the speedo one. It's a size 12 and I'd normally be a size 14 up top but the designers seem to have expected my boobs to have grown much more than they clearly have, as a result I have to hold together the top with the safety pin from the lockers otherwise I'm basically swimming topless! Found this out after having tried it on as well.

I thought I was being cunning because I had a holiday coming up but in reality I just wore my normal bikinis whilst my maternity tankini gathered dust in my suitcase.

So in short mothercare seem to have the best range but try before you buy and if your main aim is to swim properly go for a proper swimsuit.

nunnie, I think you may be onto a winner with your mammoth link. Perfect.

Thanks all!

It is pretty big isn't it, it is an attention grabber ;)
Hope you like it.

Another quick question, nunnie - I have quite big boobs, how do the sizes fit? Wondering if I should order a size bigger than usual.

I have no boobs to speak of, let me just check the size though.

nunnie · 26/01/2011 13:26

Back! Mine is a 10. I am a 10 on top and a 12 on the bottom but it fits me just fine top and bottom.

MadreInglese · 26/01/2011 13:37

thefurryone I agree about the mothercare sizing

I'm normally a 12/14 but have had to buy some 16 tops to fit my ridiculously growing norks into - but the best fit in the tankini was a 12

Riddzy · 26/01/2011 13:37

Great - I'll stick to my own size then, should cover the ample boobage.

You're a star, nunnie! x

I got a really lovely one from the M&S maternity section, its £30 but I got it in a bigger size when I was only 15 weeks or so!

MrsAnnaBanana · 26/01/2011 19:38

I got the mothercare one which has been alright, but I think it's aimed at people who want to do pregnancy aquarobics (sp?) rather than swim lengths - it doesn't offer much support and before the bump got bigger the stomach bit swished around quite a lot as I swam.

cowboylover · 27/01/2011 16:50

That sports one looks great.

I have got last seasons next one with black and whote piping which I am really pleased with. When I 1st got it at 14 weeks it felt out of poportion but now at 24 weeks with F cups its come in to its own!!! Grin

BellsaRinging · 27/01/2011 16:56

I got a cheapo one from Asda (may need to wait a bit though til their summerwear hits the shops). I have huge norks too. Lasted all pregnancy and looked fine.

ooh I'm so glad I found this thread, as I have been wondering about this for the last couple of weeks Riddzy - so pleased you started the thread.

I love the Next ones, so may purchase soon as my usual costume is feeling pretty uncomfortable in all regions and I'm popping out too, so don't think I can hang on for much longer!!!

Thanks for all the info
