i'm approx four weeks pregnant and i have suffered a miscarraige but i'v bin for ultersound and found i was pregnant with triplets i have lost one and there are two remaining sacs left but because i'm so early there is no heartbeats yet the gyni has said that because of the position of the sacs and that they are so low down that they are dead but the sacs have showed that they have grown to 10mm is this right and is it possible for them to survive based on there position i have had 5 miscarraiges includin one of the triplets my body just refuses to hold the babies but i'v never had any sacs remaining before please help me as i can't sleep and feel i'm totally in the dark my hcg is reading 9996 is this normal xxx

ultrasound at approximately 4 weeks? That's rather unusual, that's generally when you find out you're missing your first period. I have triplets, and I had my first scan at 11 weeks.

babies2011 · 25/01/2011 15:31

they scanned my as they thought i'd had my 5th miscarraige but my tests were still comin up possitive so they scanned me to see wats happenin and found two sacs

I was scanned at 4+5 as they wanted to rule out ectopic. They didn't tell me anything and couldn't as it was far too early, just told me it was growing in the right place. They did a further scan when I was 8 weeks (both vaginal scans), to confirm if pregnancy was viable or not.

Can't give you any advise sorry, am sorry that you have been left in limbo.

TheVisitor · 25/01/2011 15:36

Okay, I'll leave you to someone who knows more about early pregnancy problems.

juneau · 25/01/2011 15:39

Can your doctor/midwife not give you some clarity on this? They really shouldn't leave you with so many questions after a scan. I'd call and say you need to talk it through as you're upset and confused.

nunnie · 25/01/2011 15:41

I agree with juneau especially after your history. They should at least of explained the HCG result IMO. I don't know about levels sorry.

i phoned today and spoke to the epu (early pregnancy unit ) i told the midwife i was totally cracking and her reply was unfortunatly your hcgs don't tell us anything different so you need a scan on the 7th of feb i'm sorry i can't tell you anymore but she disagreed with the gyni saying how can he tell they are dead if its to early for a heartbeat grrrr x

I just wanted to say that I dont know anything about multiple pg but I do know you cant tell much by one HCG reading.

My ds was suspected ectopic so I had to have tests daily as my levels were not increasing they became more worried, it was explained to me that all women have different HCG levels, what they look for is whether the levels are increasing or not and then by how much they increase. I hope you get some good news at your next scan.

lilly13 · 25/01/2011 16:05

hi babies, i am sorry you had so many miscarridges. i can completely understand how worrying this pregnancy must be for you. have you considered a private consultation with a fetal medicine specialist? if you are in London, Prof Eric Jauniaux at Portland Hospital is excellent. hope it all goes well for you!

jaffacake79 · 25/01/2011 16:08

You need to have another blood test in a few days for the hcg reading to be of any meaning. Also, if you're going back on Feb 7th then that'll give it time for heartbeats to be visible.
Fingers crossed for you. Good luck.

duckmum · 25/01/2011 16:47

Difficulty with HCG readings when there is more than one sac is they are less useful and as others have said one reading on its own does not say much. I had one sac found early and had to wait until 7 weeks before a heart beat could be seen. Felt like the longest few weeks!

Hope it goes ok good luck.
