I know I have been irresponsible and stupid, but can't turn back the clock now and what is done is done.

I am just over 5 weeks pregnant and DS is just over 16 weeks.

Has anyone else got a similar gap that could advise me on what will happen during my pregnancy and labour please?

Thank you

Hi nannie, I have not experienced this myself, BUT just after my section, I asked the consultant about this. He said that once a couple of months had passed it woul actually be fine if I got pregnant. Nothing to worry about. He is very experienced so I believe him.

Having said that the only complication I had was a PPH, was yours a reasonably uneventful section too?

The section itself ended up be done under general after the spinal never worked. The recovery was fine the only complication was a slight scar infection at about 6 weeks.

Thank you for your reply.

I hope you are feeling OK nunnie, I suppose this has been a bit of a shock for you. Just to add that lots of people in these threads say that having 2 babies close together has lots of benefits even though the first while is busy.

Wishing you a healthy pregnancy. Try to recruit help from friends and family so you can sleep or rest when you need to. Lots of luck.

I had a 15 month age gap between my 1st and then twins after, they were never overly worried about having them all so close together but said maybe next time leave it a while longer.

nunnie · 25/01/2011 11:20

Thank you arabella36 it was and still is a shock to be honest.

harrygracejessica, did you have a section with your first?

I have 12 months between my 2. Ds1 was an em section and ds2 a vbac.

My pregnancy with ds2 was very hard and in fact my placenta attached to the scar (fresh and juicy apparently). I was down for an elective section but ds2 arived early and I had a vbac.

It will be hard for you but I love the fact I have 2 children so close and wouldn't change it for the world.

Congratulations and good luck!

Ohh thankyou FiveFeetTwo, that was one of my main fears, I would love to have a VBAC but if they thought it was too risky and advised an ELCS then that wouldn't be a major problem. My worry is that DS was 4 weeks early, and I am concerned it would come before ELCS. Your post has gone some way to taming that fear thank you.
I am sure as the weeks progress I will find something else to worry about, but that is pregnancy I suppose.
