Got black cohosh herbal extract tablets from sainsburys today.... is it true they help to induce labour?!

The way i feel right now, im desperate to try anything (as you all know all to well!)

I am only looking at this quickly, but everything I am finding on blue or black cohosh on reputable sites (eg., this one ) is negative enough I wouldn't touch either cohosh. I have a copy of Hale's book for breastfeeding mothers & meds, and he's quite negative on blue cohosh (says nothing about black cohosh, though).

There is a case report of neurological complications in a postterm baby after labor induction with a mixture of black cohosh and blue cohosh (Caullophylum thalictroides) during a home birth [Gunn TR, Wright IM: The use of black and blue cohosh in labour. New Zealand Medical Journal 109: 410-411, 1996 ].

Sorry...!

(You can find plenty of info on homebirthing type sites if you want to try it anyway.)
