my period was late so i did some tests.all were -ve. then last tuesday at 16 days late i got a very faint line and continued to get these the next few days.
on saturday at 20 days late i did another test. i got a faint but stronger than before faint line.the line took about 5/6 mins to appear.
but then i got my period on saturday.normal heaviness/pain.
im still on my period but tested this morning and got a definate line after 2 mins. its not as dark as the control line but definately there.
whats going on? im going to go to the doctor tomorrow but i just wondered has anybody had experience of this before?
TIA

Hi there

its sounds like it could have been a chemical pregnancy maybe ?? or a very early misscarriage ?

But remember that some women have been known to take what they think is a "period" like bleed during pregnancy, so really the only way is to get to the docs and they will take it from there, maybe an early scan to see if theres any sign of an early pregnancy there ?

Hope your ok whatever the outcome x

thank you mummysweeangel. im not sure about miscarriage cause there is no more blood than normal and not more painful. but i dont know. as you say the only way i can know for sure is to go to the doctors.

i did another test this morning and got a line in about 2 mins.
i then went to the doctor and she said that it looks like i have had an early miscarriage. she said to go back if i have heavy bleeding, pain. i feel so Sad. she said dont worry it doesnt mean you cant get pregnant again. but i wanted this pregnancy.

Hi ZhuZhu,

I'm sorry about your miscarriage. It's quite normal for there not to be any extra bleeding when it's so early on, your body wouldn't have started to grow a placenta yet so it will probably feel like a normal, if a little heavy, period. Do call your doctor again if it feels like more than that.

It really is very common (I know that doesn't make it easier) something like 1 in 3 fertilisations don't go past 12 weeks. I had a m/c at 7 weeks and a couple of other chemical pregnancies. They don't get easier and it's right to be sad but there is also no reason why you shouldn't get pregnant again next month if you want to try.

After my m/c I resisted testing until my period was definitely 3 weeks late because I didn't want to put myself through the "yes...yes...no" type agony.

Be gentle with yourself, it's okay to grieve.

thank you so much happycamel for your reply.
sorry you have also had a miscarriage.
im scared to try again in case this happens again.
i have just told dp over the phone and it really hit me and i started crying. it makes it more real when you have to say the words.
thanks again

Hi ZhuZhuhell, just wanted to add my support, I had a very early (well 6/7 weeks) mc in May - medical people were quite dismissive and said I only knew because I had done a test and therefore I shouldn't be all that upset! But I really was devastated and so was DH - I agree it's really hard saying it out loud. Give yourself a while to come to terms with the loss.

I know what you mean about wanting this pregnancy but if it gives you any hope I was pg again in July (they said there was no reason to wait in my case) and am now 28 weeks along and very excited. There is also lots of support on the mc forums on here and I'm sure you will start to feel better once you've had a good cry with your DP and then you will be able to start looking forward rather than back.

thanks for your reply ChessyEvans
sorry about your mc but congratulations on your pregnancy.i hope it continues to go well for you.
we are going to ttc straight away. i feel a bit of a fraud as i already have 2 dds and some women have none so i should be grateful. but we do want another.
