jessicaandbumpsmummy · 08/10/2005 13:53

Midwife has just called and told me i have group b strep....

Im GUTTED to say the least. Now i have to have IV antibiotics and the baby will be monitored for 24 hours after its born.

I HATE hospitals, and was really hoping to stay at home as long as possible and then be home again 6 hours after delivery.

I know there is nothing anyone can do or say to make it go away, but im so upset right now.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Oh no! I'm really for you J&Bmummy. Don't know what the right thing is to say but will say that the hospital will know what to do and will look after you and Baby. XXX

Not long now? When are you due?

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 08/10/2005 13:56

Im 38+1 now, so not long left at all.

Feeling really crappy anyway, and just want this baby out now.

MW is crap - hate her right now!

Bowels arent working properly either.... not making me feel any better!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 08/10/2005 13:58

OP posts:
Coathanger · 08/10/2005 14:01

Letter for what, Hun?

Sorry you are having trouble with your insides . Do you think its worse because you might be a bit run down? I mean you are desperate for baby to come and I expect you're busy with Jess, and you've got worries about seing the GP when baby is born. Now you have the added stress of the strepB. Be easy on yourself, take things easy.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 08/10/2005 14:03

i know hun.

DH's work need a letter from MW or Doc to say im struggling looking after Jess on my own so thta he can get some time off.

Ive just had ENOUGH...... insides just dont want to play the game - im going from one extream to the other.

ive really got a hell of a lot on my plate havent i!

OP posts:
munz · 08/10/2005 14:12

well hopefully the dr will do the letter for u. do u have some close friends who could watch jess for a few hours for u if DH can't get time off justso u can get a bit of sleep/rest.

how's DH's b'day today?

Coathanger · 08/10/2005 14:14

Aww, J&Bmummy, I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but sod it - BIG {{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}} to you, you need them. Its hard when you've got a little one and heavily PG. My DS1 was 14 months old when I had DS2 and those last few weeks of pregnancy were hell. I feel for you I hope you get your letter soon. You need that help from DH.

It won't be long. Keep on at your MW about induction. Even if they won't induce you til 40 weeks at least you won't go over.

I wish I could say something to make it right for you XX

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 08/10/2005 14:14

nope - ive got no-one round here hun - i hate it right now.

Dh is having a nice day, we went to sainsburys and we bought him a couple of HUGE cream cakes and some nice steak for tea tonight.

That bloody doctor wants to write me a letter - i am just SO not impressed with the MW..... what a BITCH..... sorry, i think im channeling all my anger towards her, because she is the one that phoned to tell me. I just cant believe the docs didnt tell me yesterday when i pohoned for the swab results!

ill just wlak into the docs on monday and cry.... best way to get what i want!

OP posts:
jessicaandbumpsmummy · 08/10/2005 14:16

Colchester, Essex

OP posts:
Coathanger · 08/10/2005 14:17

SNAP!! what a coincidence! It does get easier, and my DS1 & 2 are best of friends now and I'm so glad I had them so close together. All that hard work was worth it

Deffo go to docs and cry - won't do any harm

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 08/10/2005 14:18

mad isnt it!

I always find crying helps.... in fact, im off to do a bit more of it now!

Coathanger · 08/10/2005 14:19

Ah, yeah remember now! If only I was an hour closer I would come and have Jess for you. But, east kent is a bit too far. Not even got plans to see DH dad in ROmford soon. Could have done a detour to you - would rather spend time with you and Jess than at FIL's! hehe

Coathanger · 08/10/2005 14:19

Do you know the sex of baby?

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 08/10/2005 14:20

Bless your little cotton socks! There's no need honestly. Ill be fine. Just need some time out.

OP posts:
jessicaandbumpsmummy · 08/10/2005 14:20

Nope - not a clue on sex!

OP posts:
Coathanger · 08/10/2005 14:21

Oh good!! A lovely surprise then . What's Jess doing now?

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 08/10/2005 14:22

Running wild!

DH is chilling on the sofa.... its his birthday and i feel so bad that he is in charge of her today.... especially as we have all been up since 5.30am - thanks Jess!

OP posts:
Coathanger · 08/10/2005 14:24

Any chance she will have a sleep this pm? You really need to rest.

Aww bless ya J&Bmummy, wish I could do something

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 08/10/2005 14:28

Once she's down, me nad Dh plan to sleep too.

OP posts:
Coathanger · 08/10/2005 14:42

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 08/10/2005 16:54

OP posts:
99redballoons · 08/10/2005 17:11

hi jandbmummy, I'm not sure of everything you're going through at the moment, but I've had to come to terms with not having my planned home birth because of GBS. I'm 37wks with 2nd pg (my ds is 27mo though). Just saw the consultant on friday and he said that even though the recent enriched culture test result came back -ve, because I have had GBS in the past (found out two wks after my ds was born) they still want to treat me with IVAB's in the hospital!!Even though I'm -ve! He said that because GBS is transient and because I have had GBS in the past, it could come back at any time and the safest course of action is to have the IVAB's anyway.....

So.. I'm gutted too, have the right result, but still can't stay at home!?

Sorry, nothing to say to you really other than I sort of know what you're going through. It's gutting...
