Today its been the worst yet and at lunch time and again at about 4pm when i was sick it had bright red blood in it.

not loads and loads but enough to see clearly.

should i be worried.... OH thinks its just where i keep being sick.

I had this with morning sickness and came to the conclusion it was just from being repeatedly sick rather than anything else. I think if you find there is a lot of blood I would certainly see your gp but if it is just small traces try not to worry. Being sick is not very good for your gastric tract as it is so acidic so can damage the lining causing bleeding. Hope you feel better soon.

Being sick at all times of day is usually not "morning sickness", its hyperemesis gravidarium. The blood, in my case, was caused by a tear in throat, and got progressively worse until I was given anti emetics.

Please see your GP so they can keep an eye on you and make sure not getting dehydrated (which is bad for the baby as well as you). they may want to put you on anti emetics, or refer you to an obstetrician.

www.hyperemesis.org has a wealth of information.

I've had this too - in my case it was a one off and not a whole lot of blood. My GP said it was a torn/ burst blood vessel caused by the force of being sick so often, and not to worry, but DO take antiemetics. She did say if its a LOT of blood it would be from a worse tear, and that I might need to see a gastroenterologist (but I didn't need to).

Go chat to your GP - sounds like you need some meds to control the vomiting (sympathies :( )

I have hyperemesis and was getting red blood most times I was sick - think it came from the throat, from the violence of the retching, and the irritation of the acid.

I am also taking ranitidine (zantac) along with my anti-sickness (cyclizine), as that's supposed to make things less acidic (I think) and reduce the irritation to the digestive tract. It has reduced the number of incidences of blood.

So, worth a trip to the Doc's, although I was only given these drugs after being hospitalised for dehyration following an episode of "coffee ground" vomit - this is where you get brown blood, which comes from the stomach and looks a bit like coffee grounds (if you get this, go to A&E)

Come over to the Hyperemesis Awareness thread if you like.
