Epilating while pg

Does anyone know if it is safe to epilate while pregnant? The instruction manual for my eplilator advises against it but doesn't give a reason why. I think I might have heard in the past that it might mean I'm at more risk of getting an infection than normal and that there shouldn't be any risk to the baby. But I'm unsure if I've got that right and how I could get an infection when epilating doesn't break the skin?

Shaving is so tedious, I've been epilating for over a year, it seems a shame to stop when it's only just started to not hurt!

ive never given it a second thought, just did my legs at 37 weeks - no ill effects so far!

I have been - never thought not to! Only thing is is that it is hurting much more than before - and I've been epilating for years...

I'm like pinkelephant - never gave it a thought and have done it throughout pregnancy now 40+3 and going to do it one last time tomorrow. Not sure what the problem with it would be. Maybe it would hurt more so not good time to start epilating?

Do stop if you have the slightest sign of developing varicose veins. Other than that, I can't think of any reason why you shouldn't. I carried on throughout.

Excellent, thanks for all your replies. I'll stick at it then I think. Life would be so much easier if it was socially acceptable to have hairy legs!

I'm only 5 weeks and had a mc late last year. I don't know what caused it but I spent days looking for reasons and analysing everything I did beforehand. I epilated 3 days before the mc so got it into my head that it could possibly be the reason. Crazy I know.

johnnycomelurky best wishes for you and your iminent arrival. Isn't it funny how we try to keep our dignity and stay glam de-fuzzing, painting toenails etc before birth, knowing that's not what anyone's going to be looking at on the labour ward and that dignity is left in the car park...

It never crossed my mind that, I can't stand waxing so I epilate, I'm 10 weeks now. I may have to have a wax when I'm too big to reach Grin
