Bump visable at 5+3 weeks!

I'm pg with dc2 and already have a bump - I thought I was imagining it until dh said "Are you sure of your dates?!"

Probably being paranoid but when I found out I was pg I was having implantation bleeding (didn't get that with dd1) and "felt" the implanting (mild cramps) which I seemed to feel in 2 places. DH is adamant it's twins. I had an identical twin but that isn't hereditary so don't think that makes a difference.

Am I going mad? Did anyone else have a bump this early?

you sure your not just bloated? I had a little bloated bump when I was 5 weeks. Like the bloatedness you get on period.

How big is this bump? If it is huge maybe get it checked out? you shouldn't be showing, even if it is twins!

Just a little bump so I'm sure no-one would notice but I don't feel bloated. It's very firm - dh thinks I'm at least 8 weeks (there's no way). With dd1 I was in maternity clothes at 12 weeks as she pushed everything out front, but I thought that was early, this is ridiculous.

I would assume it was my imagination if it wasn't for dh's comments. My boobs have grown too (gone up a cup).

boobs normally are bigger before bump. 12 weeks is not that uncommon to be in maternity I was at 13 weeeks.

Apparently if you have had a baby before you are more likely to show early as your body prepares itself.

I had a proper bump by 8 weeks this time although im pregnant with my 2nd set of twins. Last time I was showing by about 10 weeks (with twins)

I had a bump at about 8 weeks...

But the "twin gene" runs from the male side of the family, so get your dh tracing his family tree!

I also think you are more aware of a bump with a second child (psychologically as you know what to expect)

I thought that twins are something that comes from the womans side - it's a genetic propensity to release two (or more) eggs... not sure how DH's family can affect her ovaries However, it can be passed to her from HER father.

Identical twins are believed to be a quirk of nature and so no genetic link.

Really interested to know if you have twins though given your strong feelings!

My OH looks like she is showing at 7+4 she is worrying about it, so I'm trying to make her feel better by telling her that maybe she isn't showing but just getting fat. :o I know I'm bad. She doesn't like to be woken up with "Morning fatty girl"

Just to clarify: MIL isn't a twin and no twins on dh's side - I had a twin (died at 11 weeks) but we were the only twins on my side.
