I know it's not very traditional but is anyone else considering a gift to give their husbands/partners once baby arrives to mark the occasion?

Also I chose an eternity ring as my wedding band and hubby wants to get something for me but I'm a bit lost for ideas as I already have diamond earrings and don't really wear necklaces so not keen on getting a pendant.

Suggestions for both him and I would be really appreciated.

I'm not necessarily thinking big or massively expensive items either.

When our ds was born I gave my husband and son a joint gift, a first edition Beatrix Potter, the tales of peter rabbit. My husband read a little to him every night when he was small. When our dd arrived a few years later I got them a first edition Beatrix Potter, the tale of mrs tiggy-winkle. My husband loves books and these will go to our grandchildren one day. They cost around the same as a good watch or diamond ring but mean a lot to us. x

We did the eternity ring for me and I got DH a good watch. Boring, I know, but we both wear them every day and think of our little family when we look at them.

Could you get another ring, maybe for another finger?

If you can wait a bit after the baby is born, what about getting some cufflinks/a pendant with the baby's fingerprint on? Have seen some lovely ones of these.

You could then get others made for future children and wear multiple pendants on one chain, and your DH could wear one of each cufflink if you have 2 DCs?

Have been trying to think of other ideas to give you. Many of my friends were given necklaces of child's initials, but stopped wearing them after a while.

Tattoos? Not my thing but friends have also done that and DH is talking about having one done once DC2 arrives.

Since DS was born, on various occassions, DH has given me a Tiffany/Elsa Perreti or Links initial of mine, his and DS's. I wear them on a necklace chain, but am intending to get them put on a bangle, away from grabby hands!
