Hi - looking for reassurance I guess:( I am 11 wks pregnant with DC3, have nuchal scan next week, but noticed couple days ago very pale pink discharge when went to loo (sorry TMI!), but now this evening, it's dark brown discharge, like just before my period starts properly, spotting on knickers....
I had implantation spotting with DC2, but am really thrown by this, as have slight cramping too...
I know if it is a miscarriage there is nothing that can be done anyway...but what do I do? Or do nothing? I feel very conflicted as while this was very planned pregnancy, have recently been worried how it will affect DC1 and 2 who will be 5 and 7 when arrives...have been feeling 'oh god how will I cope, what have I done, I've been so selfish', and I know it is silly but feel this is karma...:(

Hi there - just wrote you a message and the computer lost it so here goes again...

I had bleeding at 5.5 weeks and had to spend a night in hospital. They did all the checks and everything turned out to be fine, but it was so worrying to I appreciate how you must be feeling.

My advice would be to take it really easy; don't lift too much, rest a lot and sleep as much as poss. Also, it maybe worth a trip to the docs, though I know you have your scan next week which will hopefully put your mind at rest.

One thing which made me feel a lot better was that they said brown blood is old blood and therefore not as worrying, it's bright red blood which causes the main concern, accompanied by pain.

Good luck for your scan, I hope everything turns out to be fine for you.

Sorry you're going through this. I know how scary it is.

When I had spotting in a previous pregnancy I went to the walk in centre at our local hospital. They referred me to the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit who scanned me straight away. Some EPUs will accept walk-ins if you tell them you are bleeding. If you don't want to wait until next week you could give yours a call. Good luck.

Sydnenhamhiller - I've just looked at your user name properly. A friend told me the other day that Lewisham EPU accepts walk-ins. It might be worth popping down there tomorrow. Hopefully they will be able to give you some reassurance.
