That if you're in certain shops when your waters break then they give you freebies? Was remembering how dh encouraged me to go to m&s when I was long overdue with ds.

If it is true, then which shops are most generous? Grin

Apparently so! I understand if your waters break in Harrods, you get thousands of pounds worth of free baby stuff for the first year.

I wanted to go and hang out in Harrods when pregnant with DD but by the time I got to 37 weeks I was soooo tired and feet sooo sore that I could barely leave the house.

So a fabulous idea but I'm not sure how you'd be able to stand hanging out in shops day after day at the end of your pregnancy. But good luck with it

i have heard this too but i think its just a myth. imagine having your waters break in waitrose, having free shopping for the rest of your lifeGrin

very much doubt it!

I have heard that John Lewis give you a £50 voucher if your waters break in one of their storesShock. Not sure how accurate that info was though?!Grin

Complete urban myth, I'm afraid.

These days, you'd be more likely to get a bill for floor cleaning.

Was just wondering. All being well I'm on for c-section this time, so not an issue. Has anyone actually tested this out?

I was told the same (£50 voucher from M&S etc) by a friend who had her baby unexpectedly at a race course. Her child has free life time membership. Not sure how much use that actually is, but seems like a nice gesture!

I was in my local Electrical store, heavily pregnant, and asked what I would get if my waters broke in their store. Their answer - a mop and bucket!! Grin

Harrods actually had a press release to deny it!

no one wants a load of pregnant women taking up all the aisle space :)

I was veeeeeery huge in M&S and the sales assistant asked me when my due date was...

I said "four days ago"

She said "oooh! You might go into labour here at my till!"

My DH "Would we get free stuff?" laugh laugh laugh...

Her (stony faced) "no. You wouldn't believe how often we get asked that."

So... If it is true, I don't think it's true in M&S! Lol
