Anyone know where to get an Icandy Peach Blossom at the best price?

I'm just wondering if anyone knows of any competitive stores? I am looking to buy complete with the lower carrycot and maxi cosi adaptors, and so far have been quoted £975 twice and £1200 once.

I read of someone on here getting one for much less at a baby show...... any ideas?

This shop in St Albans does a price match. Maybe give them a call to see what price they'd do? It's tricky with iCandy because shops are not allowed to sell them online.

sh77 · 20/01/2011 11:10

In a thread yesterday on Bugaboo v Icandy, a poster said she got her package for 850 at the baby show and managed to haggle.

trixie123 · 20/01/2011 11:50

what everyone else said. I do recommend the st albans shop - we got most of our big stuff from there. The guy who owns it is trained to repair Icandy prams (not that he has had to do anything to ours) but he is very good at explaining how they work if you forget between buying it and using it! We got both of our car seats from there too and he'll come out and show you how to fit it in and everything. If you live near enough it nice to have that kind of support if something goes wrong but I have heard about bargains at the babyshow and it is coming up in a month so worth waiting if you can maybe.

FlamingGallah · 20/01/2011 12:08

Hi there

I was the one that got my peach at the baby show....bought for 580 (not 850!). That was for the single not the blossom though.

Whereabouts do you live? The stand I bought it from was from a shop in Leicester. I have to be honest, the delivery and customer service afterwards while waiting for it to be delivered was not brilliant and I had to ring up a lot to "encourage" them! I've since looked on the net and that seems a fairly common experience, but people do seem to have a much better experience if they pick up the stuff in person from the shop.

Maybe you could get a quote from the Leicester place (baby planet) over the phone, and see if the St Albans place will price match as their aftercare does sound much better?

Alternatively if you'd consider eBay, there are several blossoms on there at the moment for very good prices

BabyTank · 20/01/2011 13:41

We've just bought our Icandy Peach (single not blossom), carrycot, Maxicosi car seat, Easyfix base + car seat adaptors for £917 from John Lewis. This was the cheapest I could find but they also do a price match.

Bubandbump · 20/01/2011 13:48

Babytank how did you manage that? Jl quoted to me last weekend:
£599 for pushchair
£199 for carrycot
£120 for carseat
£126 for family fix base
£30 for carseat adapter
Total: £1074

Oxford pram centre has quoted slightly cheaper than that but not much. Jl price match is also a pain- it has to be somewhere that has high street stores and you need evidence of the alternative price - hard when icandy don't sell online! If anyone knows anywhere cheaper in or around London that would be great!

sh77 · 20/01/2011 14:07

flaming - sorry! wow 580 is a bargain! I may well go to the baby show now. At 850, I thought naaaahhhh.

nancerama · 20/01/2011 15:41

Hi, I'm going for the iCandy Cherry. I found the best way to get a good deal was to buy all my big items from a single shop. I bought the iCandy and my cot at the same time and managed to negotiate a big chunk off.

If you go to the iCandy website, you'll find a list of all their stockists. Email a load to get the cheapest price as your starting point for negotiation.

Good luck.

FlamingGallah · 20/01/2011 15:41

Just looked on this year's baby show website and there's a special offer on the iCandy single with car seat:

www.thebabyshow.co.uk/offers-excel-london.php

Doesn't make it clear if it includes the carrycot though.

I did haggle quite hard as we didn't need the carseat.

Just please please please don't hold me responsible for any crappy post-purchase service! I think they just take waaaay too much business at the show and find it hard to keep up with it all.

They do ask you your due date when you place your order at the show. I would strongly advise shaving off at least a month to avoid the stress of not having your pram in time!

sh77 · 20/01/2011 15:44

flaming - you are a star. My problem is that baby is due 7 weeks today and so we wouldn't get it in time. Do you remember what prices you were quoted outside of the show?

sh77 · 20/01/2011 15:46

Ok so I just checked - 750 RRP outside of show (with car seat) and 650 at show. Pretty good.

sh77 · 20/01/2011 16:03

sillysow I just got 2 quotes:

pramworld.co.uk (I bought a pram from them in person in the past. V good). They are quoting 830 for footmuff, carrycot, car seat, adaptors, pushchair.

St Albans shop - 850

You could ask John Lewis to price match these shops.

Ajax2000 · 20/01/2011 16:27

John Lewis will only match physical stores and you need to be able to prove the price, written or on a website for example.

Remember that iCandy stockists can not send goods direct to customers who have not been in their store - no courier deliveries to you if you live miles away so watch how you shop...

And more importantly, if you have a problem you need to get it sorted it will only be at the stockist you purchased from!

If it's JL expect to be without pram for up to 6 weeks!!

Shop local, get your car seat fitted correctly by a trained shop and have peace of mind...!

pipplin · 20/01/2011 16:35

Sorry that babyshow link where do I find the offers?

FlamingGallah · 20/01/2011 17:32

About half way down the page Pipplin? Should have lots of other show offers above and below it.

Forgive me if it doesn't work- tinterweb not one of my fortes...

Ajax2000 · 20/01/2011 17:35

Just been in to the Baby Shop in St Albans as I'm local, they said they would match any offer on the Baby Show website but the Peach is not that big a discount - only 13.5% and the offer is a Cabriofix... it seems normally most stores will take 10% off for a package anyway but they do also have all the colours in stock and also stock the Blossom packages too :)

Still cheaper than JL :o

Don't forget the offer does not include a carrycot though!

Whilst I was there I got them to match the Skibz offer!! 4 Skibz For the Price of 3 - Save £10 - Bonus, wasn't going out today!

sillysow · 20/01/2011 18:44

My nearest (1hr drive) JL will price match and do have it all in stock - so bearing in mind that I do want to have good customer service this is probably what I will do :)

Tempting to haggle at the baby show though.....

OP posts:
trixie123 · 20/01/2011 19:47

Ajax thanks for that. I love skibz and want to get lots for DD when she's born. didn't know about them for DS. Am local to St Albans also so will look at the deal and pop in!

Ajax2000 · 21/01/2011 11:00

Hi sillysow re: JL - make sure you have something in writing for a PM at JL as I know that they won't generally match prices without proof - at least Brent Cross, WGC and Watford won't usually as I know from friends!

iCandy prices won't be on a website anywhere!

The Baby Shop however will beat any JL written price as I found out when purchasing my Furniture a couple of years ago for DS! Not sure if ST.A is close enough to make it worth it though??!!

trixie I passed the shop this morning and spoke to the boss man about the Baby Show deals again and he said they will put them on their website to make it easier for people to get the deals and for the staff to be aware! Wow. Grin

sh77 · 21/01/2011 12:04

ajax - do you know if the baby show deal includes the carrycot? Can a newborn do without the carrycot?

Ajax2000 · 21/01/2011 15:00

sh77 - no cot for sure, it's a similar deal (I think I know who they are) they did a couple of years ago on the iCandy Apple, slightly misleading as they also now don't mention which Maxi Cosi it is but it will be the Cabriofix and not the Pebble.

Expect they will 'upsell' at the show as usual...

You can use a car seat for a newborn (MAX 2 HOURS!!! without a break) but the seat unit is not rated for use until 6 months or at the very lest holding head and neck strongly.

Nothing is as good for babies spinal development and breathing as a carry cot IMO though.

Nai11 · 22/02/2013 18:48

Hello,
I don't know if this would be any use to you as it appears you don't live near essex, however I would recommend www.zebedeebabyshop.co.uk/ They have good deals on the whole icandy range. I personally enquired about the peach and cherry. I was quoted 571.50 for the cherry and 855 for the peach (these both include adaptors/raincover/carrycot and the maxicosi carseat which they are trained to fit for you).
The majority of people I know that live around here buy from them and I know I probably will. Hope this helps!

ladymia · 22/02/2013 19:00

Try www.pramworld.co.uk/

I got a great deal on there for a bugaboo bundle

leannac · 22/02/2013 19:30

If you're willing to go secondhand there are loads if the recently retired colours (sweetpea & blackjack) on gumtree & preloved for £400 ish. I've had mine for 2 years now & its still in v good condition so I don't think you'd have any problem with wear & tear affecting the pram. Plus you could get a new chassis for £50 if bought a secondhand one soon as icandy are offering new chassis' for the old models for conversion to newly designed chassis

Rockchick1984 · 22/02/2013 23:40

Pretty sure the original poster has bought her pram already, as the thread is from 2011 Grin
