Fed up with hearing random negative stuff from strangers about gap

I am 36 weeks preg, and huge, and pushing buggy around with 17 month old in it. And I'm fed up of hearing from total strangers in shops etc how hard it is going to be, and what a shock I'm in for, and how full my hands are going to be etc etc.

Do they think I'm going to change my mind then if they warn me enough.?!

Every empathy and my gap is 14 months. Just got to grin and bear it i'm afraid. I still want a witty riposte but i thinkyou just ahve to say 'aren't i lucky' and disarm them witha winning smile.

I bought a pregnancy test today with my 15 week old in his carseat, the woman in front of me said that looks interesting, then said it will be fun but worth it. For every negative there is always a postive comment just ignore the negative that's what I will be doing, mine will be an 11 month gap.

I've got 16 and a bit months between my oldest 2 and had similar experiences, coupled with "aren't you young" (23 at the time), "are you married" (yes and so what?) and my personal favorite "I bet that was a big surprise" (er, no it was entirely planned as is number 3 shortly!) I tended to ignore them, but it is annoying.

I'm really glad we chose the close gaps we had, the kids are close friends, they play really nicely together and most importantly they all sleep through and the youngest was out of nappies before the eldest was 7, so all that's finished!

course it will be hard at first but then it will be lovely to have them at the same time. my gap will be 3 and half years, easier at frst but then they will be at different stages for the rest of their lives.. you cant plan these things, life has a way of decding for you eh!

It works the other way as well. I will have an almost 7 year gap and am fed up of people telling me I'll have to go through all the sleepless nights again, etc, etc. Don't you think we've thought about that!

Know what you mean flower My oldest was nine when dc2 born, so I've had it from both sides. The gap was perfect for us as a family, she loves her little brother so much and he has enriched her life more than I could have imagined. They have a lovely relationship. Don't pay any attention to negative people.
As Mandy says you can't always plan these things, and we are lucky to have our dcs. Lets enjoy and not listen to the 'commenters'.

I have a 19month gap and got all these comments from strangers and i am now pregnant again an there will be a 2yr10month gap and now get all the 'ooo thats gonna be hard work for you'. Some people will comment no matter what.
Just nod and smile and shout at them in your head. Its what i do :)

at changing your mind! you should say "OK, let me have your address and I will send this one on to you if I can't cope, yeah?!"

17 months gap here too.

Don't remember much about the first 6 months after DC2 was born....went by in a bit of a fog

But it is GREAT from then on really - everything over and done with together, they got to be best friends, same bedtime, same toys mostly....

You are going to have such FUN! really!

I have 15 months and usually get the opposite! People are always telling me how great they are together and how nice it will be for them growing up :)

I am 33 weeks and have a 14 month old - sick of the comments too!! I had a disgusted look the other day, I wanted to slap her! And the usual 'bet that was a bit of a shock!' comments too. I'm not sure why people feel the need to comment / think you want to know their opinion to be honest!
Good luck anyway. After so many warnings, I'm sure anything less than hell will be a pleasant surprise!! THta's how I feel anyway

Some people just don't think before they open their mouths! How are their comments helpful in any way?? Tell them to bog off!
I had 3 babies in 28 months.I had 15 month gap then 13 month gap. Yes it's hard work at times but i wouldn't change a thing!

i'm the same as flower and thatlldopig* my DS will be nine by the time this next one makes an appearence and everyione finds it highly amusing to remind me of having to go through all the sleepless nights and nappies and the terrible two's again.
I pioint out that i willhave the prefect helper in a very excited 9 year old and a built in babysitter in a few years time!:)

Forgot to add my eldest was 8 when 1st of her siblings arrived. She was and still is an amazing big sister!
