Pregnant but I don't want to tell anyone yet...husband in a mood.

I literally JUST found out I am pregnant with DC2. Did a test this evening, reckon I am 2-3 weeks along.
I just told DH that I don't want to tell our parents yet, and he went mad! I just want it to sink in with me first, and can't bear the thought of my MIL fussing all over me.
Sorry, just needed to rant.
I can't really give him a good reason why I don't want to say anything yet. I just don't.

God, take your time, if anything like my parents they want to tell all their friends straight away anyway so insist to DH at you have some time to get your head round it and also some time when just you two know and you can enjoy it.

By the way congratulations!!! Can't believe I forgot to say that.

Congratulations! I found out I am pregnant yesterday but I think we are a bit further along maybe 4-5 weeks. We aren't planning to tell anyone until after the scan as it is our DC2 and we want it to be "our secret" for a bit.

Then we can tell everyone after the scan including my work so it can be done in one big go. Could you compromise and say you will discuss it again in a week once it has settled in?

Congratulations!

I did pregnancy test for DC2 in December when my parents were staying and I was 2-3 weeks. I was tempted to tell them, but so glad we didn't. We gave ourselves a bit of time to digest the news and told them and PILs at Christmas, but all are sworn to secrecy until we've had the scan!

Congratulations! My DH was also desperate to tell his parents (although not the day I told him, it was a bit of a shock for both of us) but it took me ages to get my head round it all and I really couldn't stand the thought of talking about it with anyone but him at first.

I did feel a bit sorry for him as it's pretty big news and I'd got to tell him whereas he was just walking around with a big secret that he was bursting to share.

erm, what do you mean he went mad? did he shout at you? why does he think it is a good idea to tell everyone so soon? does he usually go mad when he doesn't get his own way? so sorry he is runing this special time for you.

Thanks for your concern CallMeBoo...but he was just disappointed not to be able to tell anyone yet because he's so excited.
We both shouted actually. Anyway, just had a calm chat and feeling better now and he understands where I am coming from...which is a bit freaked out about it all tbh!

congratulations! i didn't want to tell my MIL and SIL because they were big gossipers. my DH was totally supportive and kept a secret until 18 weeks. we told my mom at 5 weeks when she visited(my choice) and my dad in person at 10 weeks (when we visited). i did have early scan at 8 weeks, though.

write down a few rational reasons as to why you are not comfortable telling relatives. for me it was a fear of miscarrige (bc i am not young and never had an mc before) and general superstition which is cultural in my case... good luck!

Last time I was pregnant we decided to tell our parents only and then my mum got really over excited and begged to tell my grandparents and before I knew it I had my whole family calling up to congratulate us. When I miscarried it was bloody awful having to tell them all. (In fact I made her tell most of them.) I'm sure your pregnancy will be fine but you're right to keep it to yourself until you're ready to tell people. Your DH will come round I'm sure - fingers crossed for you. And congratulations!
