No idea, but poor her and poor you.

HAs she had any miscarriage testing at all? That number of MCs could have a treatable cause such as clotting disorders. Do her losses tend to be all at the same stage?

lilly13 · 19/01/2011 21:13

statistically, early miscarriages are mostly due chromosomal abnormalities. however, they could also be due to insuffient levels of progesterone to support pregnancy (this could be easily with progesterone suppositories). this could also be a result of genetic blood disorder which could only be tested by a sophisticated blood test. someone should be testing her -- that's the only way tot find out. hope she finds some help.

i have told her the advice given here - hopefully she will get some testing done - i cant imagine losing so many babies - ive never had one miscarriage

I have had 7 miscarriages and lost twin girls who were still born at 21 weeks so I can identify with your sil pain. I have 2 lc from my first marriage so it is unclear why I am now suffering so many losses. Twins were lost to very specific identical twin problem so nothing to do with early miscarriage.

Has your sil had any tests? I have had every test going to check fsh levels, hormone levels, scans to check uterous, ovaries etc, dh has had sperm test (although low not seemingly a problem) and nothing has come up as a problem with any of the tests.

I am now under the care of a recurrent miscarriage specialist. I am currently 6+5 weeks pregnant and have been on steroids (10mg prednisolone) from ovulation. This suppresses your immune system so your body does not fight off what it sees as an 'alien' body. I am on twice daily 20mg clexane injections - this thins the blood incase I have sticky blood or blood clots that could cause miscarriage. And I am on 400mg progesterone pessaries. This boosts my body's natural supply of progesterone. You need enough to support a pregnancy until the placenta takes over at 12 weeks. Although I have not tested low they recommend it anyway.

Has your sil been tested/recommended any of the above? Your bil and sil should also be tested for chromosome problems - this requires a blood test from each done on the same day so they can test seperately and together.

I sincerely hope that your sil has stopped bleeding and her pregnancy proceeds. If not then she needs to get help.

If you want any other info just get in touch.

She really needs tests. I have had 4 early stage mcs, was tested and the simple solution was high dose folic acid (5mg) and aspirin. Such a simple solution to a horrible couple of years. Is there any way she can access these tests in Bangldesh? Can she come to the UK for them privately? I feel for her, such an isolating experience.

edwardsbella · 20/01/2011 12:39

what doseage asprin did you take and can you get the 5mg folic acid from a pharmacy ,im thinking i might send her some

Baby Aspirin. The dosage is about 80mg. Just take one. I have just done a round of IVF and they suggest taking one Baby Aspirin a day to all their patients. However, I do not think this will solve your SIL's problem. Most likely she has an immunity or hormone problem. She really does need some investigations.

jasmine51 · 20/01/2011 17:48

I agree - aspirin can make things worse for some conditions so it is not a wonder drug. The 5mg folic acid is prescription only. Oh I wish I could tele-transport her here and get her the tests

I have had 10+ misscarriages. I have APS. As soon as I get pregnant now I take 40mg clexane. Now have twin daughters and am expecting my 3rd ant day.
